Obituary of Michael Rinehart
Michael J. Rinehart, 61 of Indianapolis lost his battle with pancreatic cancer November 22, 2014. He was born September 20, 1953 in Indianapolis, IN.
Mike spent 35 years with the Indianapolis Police Department where he retired in September of 2012. After retirement, he decided to pursue a second career in cooking at Second Helpings, and became a chef. In July of 2013 Mike went to work at Eskenazi Health where he cared for both patients and visitor. He enjoyed his second career and was always looking for ways to improve both the products and service for the customers. Mike received several awards through his time at Eskenazi and enjoyed the family atmosphere.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Michelle (Caine) Rinehart; daughter, Kellie (Wayne Weeks); son, Jason (Bunch); brother, Mark A. (Denise) Rinehart and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 26 from 3 pm - 7 pm with a funeral service at 7 pm in Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St., Indianapolis.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Second Helpings, 1121 Southeastern Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46202 or Progress House, 201 S. Shelby St., Indianapolis, IN 46202. Any volunteer work may be donated to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department fan club.
