Thinking of the family and remembering one of the sweetest people to ever walk the halls of Washington High!
Just thinking of the Brooks Family. I will always remember Mrs. Rosemary Brooks. She was my accompanist for all the choirs at GWHS until she retired. A great person,so very thoughtful, caring, compassionate, dependable and on and on with positive thoughts. She loved her children. We talked about you guys daily. I felt like I knew you all just from our conversations. I miss her much! Love you all. She lives on!! Bessie Colvin
Just learned of Rosie's passing. Shared many years of wonderful friendship with Rose, working at the YMCA and continuing after. She was a dear friend whom I loved and always knew she loved me! We had wonderful times! Love to her wonderful family.
I remember you playing piano for us so beautifully. You were always supporting and comforting. May you rest in Peace.
Rosemary played the piano at Ritter Avenue Free Methodist Church for at least 30 years. She also played for the choir. Her heart was always in the music she played. She loved the piano. I play the organ so you can see that I was privileged and honored because I could hear Rosemary play. She loved people and ministered to lots of people. I appreciate her friendship, such a blessing. I'll always miss her. I visited with her the first Thursday of May, don't know that she recognized me. But I'm glad I went, as well as going to see her other times. She is with Jesus now. What a life, lived for the Lord!
I begin with expressing my love for Ms Brooks. She was one great lady, full of energy and love. She served as my accompanist for the choirs at GWHS. She could play that piano!!! and loved it. So loyal, so dependable even through illness. I was Blessed to have her around. She loved her children, and I remember their names because she talked about you all the time. Especially Sharon and David, but also Michael, Janice and Greg. I believe Rachael was her confident until she passed away. There was no mother who loved her kids more than Ms Brooks. I remember when she moved out East off Emerson, she was so proud. She would plant flowers and tell me about them. While at Washington, she would write stories and poetry. She had the neatest hand-write. Her poems were awesome. I suggest that you all locate them and have them published. Her scribble drawings weren't bad either. We had a great time at Washington, couldn't have done it without her. Thank you Ms Brooks, we love and we will miss you! ! Bessie Colvin
My fond memories of Mrs Brooks bring a smile to my face. I had 4 majors while in high school and Music was my favorite! We all LOVED her. She was a very sweet lady and knew all of us by name. I only wish I knew where she lived. I would loved to have been able to visit with her. We celebrate our 40th reunion from GWHS in August. The time spent with her during my high school days are truly precious memories! I would've gone to her service, but I just found out this morning she passed and that her service was yesterday evening. My heartfelt sympathy is with the entire family.
Mike Tammy, and family. We are so sorry for your great loss. Our prayers will be with you now and forever. God Bless you all.
I was sad to read that Rosemary had passed away. She was my accompanist when I taught vocal music at George Washington H.S. in the early '70's. She even played the organ at my wedding in 1974. I will always remember Rosemary as a soft-spoken, sweet lady who never complained and who always showed kindness and friendship toward me. I only wish I had known she lived so close to me as I would have visited her and relived old memories of our years together working at GWHS. My thoughts and prayers are with her entire family. Thank you for sharing your photos here. You have lost a precious woman but one whom undoubtedly blessed you with love, grace and priceless memories during her remarkably long life.
My condolences to Rosemary's children. Your mother was always a joy to do business with!I was her Prudential Ins. agent for many years. She always share with me how she loved her children and spouses, along with their many children. When she lived on the eastside of Indpls. I met her in the MCL restaurant parking lot one Monday. We were both excited, because on that day, I was going in for my ham & beans, and she just had her ham & beans! We had a good laugh together. Rosemary was a godly women, and left many good memories with me. She is with Jesus now surrounded with His love. Sincerely, Dave Walker
Mrs. Brooks was our Glee Club accompianist at Washsington High School. She was a very talented and gracious lady. May your many cherished memories of Mrs. Brooks give you comfort during this difficult time. She was such an accomplished lady and she lived a long and fulfilled life.
I remember Rosemary coming to the First Free Methodist church to play the piano for a revival. Then we always enjoyed her worship on piano whenever we visited Ritter Avenue FMC. We were blessed by her whole-hearted devotion to Jesus.
The world is filled with music, and no one knew that better than Rosemary. Everywhere she went a new friend was made. She was such a positive person, always looking for the best in people. I will carry many memories of her with me. Those memories will put a smile on my face and an emptiness in my heart knowing she is gone. We will miss the music that was her life, but know that God now has a little more music in heaven:)
Grandma helped make me the woman I am today. She empowered me to be strong and be loving and gracious. I will always feel her soft caress on my face. I love that you are in heaven with all your loved ones. I take you with me wherever I go. Love you grandma! Love, David's daughter, Michelle
So many great memories of Aunt Rosemary and the love she had for her family.
