Gilbert E. Johnson, 83, of Indianapolis passed away February 1, 2013. He was born August 15, 1929 to Roscoe G. and Sarah Rowena (Elrod) Johnson, both preceding him in death. Gilbert served in the United States Army from 1948 - 1950. He retired from Kipp Brothers after 34 years of faithful service. He was a member of the Midwest Roller Pigeon Club. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years who passed away in 2007, Roberta J. (Jean) Johnson, whom he married on July 12, 1949 and brother, Nelson (Clem (Sare)) Johnson. He is survived by his children, Keith (Teri) Johnson, Terry (Lester) Waskom, Rita Sue Johnson, Eric K. (Audrey) Johnson and Jaime A. (Alyssa) Johnson; sister, Myrna Ogden; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 7 pm - 10 pm at Westside Retirement Village, (317) 271-1020, located at 8616 W. 10th St., Indianapolis, IN 46234.
