"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear".
I just heard today. We offer our sincere and heart-felt condolences.
As a student, I learned that Susan was no ordinary baton teacher. Not only did she teach baton, but also great life lessons. She has taught me so much these past 4 years. I just want to thank her for everything. I miss you Susan.
Sad, Sad, Sad, Susan was the ultimate of energy. She was always smiling, smiling. I am so sorry for your loss.
We have so many wonderful memories of Susan. Sarah and Erin loved taking lessons from Susan and having her as a judge. Catching up with her at Nationals and visiting was always a highlight of our week there. She was so loving and supportive of her "grand" twirlers. We will miss her. She touched all of our lives in such a wonderful way. Mary, Sarah, and Erin Paulus
I remember Susan's beautiful smile...and her great performances with the baton. I didnt see her after high school, but glad to hear she had such dedication and follow through with her commitment. Hugs to the family.
I met Susan through knowing and doing mailings for her Dad. She became a regular customer and finally a true friend.
Susan was a great lady and never missed and opportunity to make and meet new friends. I am so glad that I had the chance to become her friend. She will be missed by the whole Speedway Post Office, but especially by me.

I remember Susan for her beautiful flaming red hair...and her baton twirling. She had so much talent...we were all in awe of her expertise. I am saddened about Susan's passing. Susan and I graduated from Ben Davis High School together and lived behind each other in Farley. My condolences to the family - Susan was full of energy and enthusiasm. She shared her passion with so many - she will live on!

My only memories of Susan are through Baton Twirling. When my daughter was 3, her coach and entered her in her first contest. It was at this contest that I met Susan. She was incredibly welcoming, and very kind my very tiny twirler. We continued to participate in Susan's and other contests for many years, and Susan's gracious personality never changed. Just this past November 17th, I made my up the highway again with my granddaughter...yes, at 4 she was ready to compete in the State Contest which Susan was directing. Again, the same smile, the same kind greeting that we received over 25 years ago was there. Our grand daughter placed first in two areas, and by Susan's enthusiasm as she awarded her her medals, one would have thought she had won the whole State!! Please know all of our family is incredibly saddened by the loss of such a extraordinary woman, but we are so very glad that in some small way we came to know her. She will be continued to be remembered in our prayers. Maureen Fust
So Sorry to hear of Mrs Orr's passing. We live in Maine. My daughter Carley twirls baton. Susan was an inspiration to so many. We didn't know her personally, but through the baton world. God bless all of you, you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Max, Ben, Kelly and the entire Dailey Orr Family - Looking at the pictures on this site brings back a flood of memories - from first grade when Sarah brought home that flyer wanting to learn to twirl after school to the many recitals, to all those lessons at Orchard, twirling at Brebeufm the Macy's Parade when we "stole" Susan from her family so that she could share in the excitement as Sarah, Lauren and Shannon participated in the parade - it was Susan's Super Bowl! And of course to the state contest as Sue and I sat in the back hall doing tabulating. Oh and Susan attending Butler games so that she could see Sarah twirl -- 50 yard line - front row! We loved Susan and thank God that we had the opportunity to have her in our lives. She taught Sarah so many life lessons and is continuing to do so now - A heartfelt thank you for sharing Susan with our family!
Max-My thoughts and prayers are with you in this hard time. Alison
We met Susan at Fjiddler's Creek at the pool. She was a delight and we had so many laughs with her. She loved life. We will miss seeing her at Fiddler's. May God comfort you at this time. Absent from the body present with the Lord. May God bless her family and help you through this time.
Words cannot express how deeply saddened we are at the loss of Susan Orr. We have many special memories of her including visits to Marco Island to take modeling lessons. She was so giving of her time and talents but more importantly so positive in everything! She was uplifing and encouraging to me as a coach, to Moriah as a twirler, and to all of my students who came across her paths as she judged them. She certainly is leaving this world a better place with presence here on Earth. May the love of Jesus Christ wrap His arms around each of you during this most difficult time. We will never forget her. Thank you for sharing her with the Twirl-M's and the entire twirling community!
Max, I am so sorry to learn about Susan. I will thank God for these wonderful decades you had together, and pray for you as time passes until you two share eternity, together again. God Bless your family and you, Max. Your friend. Ken
Dear Max Robin and I are deeply sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Joe and Robin Bridges
Max, You are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. She was a beautiful lady, sorry for your loss. Dick & Kathy Sparks Lebanon, Indiana Naples, Florida
I remember the day Susan walked into our pool store to ask about their pool in Fiddlers Creek. I had just moved to Naples leaving my friends and found she was from Carmel, Ind., my hometown. I had been in Florida for 35 years and never met anyone from Carmel. She and Max asked my husband, Doug to care for their pool. Each year when they would come to Naples she would always stop by to visit and said "hi". We laughed about many things. I had been a twirler for Carmel High School which made her even more dear to me. We lost touch when we sold our business in 2007 and I had no idea she was ill. My heart goes out to Max and their family. She is with you still and with all of us, I believe in angels and she is certainly watching all of you with her warm smile. God Bless you all. Jennifer Tanner, Naples, Fl. formerly of Doug's Pool Service.
I only met Susan once at the GHS reunion a few years back but she was so warm and welcoming. I am so sorry to hear of her passing and know that God will watch over her.

With deepest sympathy and much gratitude for having had the opportunity to have Susan in our lives. Much Love, Sarah Fox and Family (David, Laura & Caroline).
We are very, very sorry for the loss of your beautiful Susan. My daughter Alexandra (Alex) from Minnesota is a baton twirler (now twirling for the University of Southern California.) During her elementary through high school years, she loved having Susan as a judge at contests. She was a wonderful judge! With so much style and grace, she took the extra time to kindly offer useful tips to help Alex be a better twirler, modeler, and interviewer. One year Alex purchased a heart baton from Susan, not because she needed another baton, but because she thought it was so cool that Susan came up with the product idea and took the initiative to market and sell it. We still have that special baton on our shelf! Our hearts go out to you. Susan really did make the twirling world a better place!
Our deepest sympathies. We are so sad that such a vibrant person has left us far too soon. She was a wonderful supporter of baton twirling and highlighted every positive in being involved in this activity to everyone she met! Her students enjoyed her as their coach but more importantly, viewed her as a role model in their lives. May she rest in peace.
Vibrant - that's the word that comes to mind when I think of Susan. Her passing is indeed a huge loss and Sandro, Niccolo' and I all send our deepest condolences to Max and Ben.
What a loss to the twirling world, Susan's family, and friends. I share the shock of her sudden death and just relive the memories of the past 40 years of twirling in the state of Indiana. My students and I send our love and prayers from the southern part of the state where Susan was such a familiar face with her warm smile and positive attitude at so many many twirling contests.
There are no words to express how I felt when I got this news on Saturday. Susan and I judged all over the country together. We have had so many great times talking about our love of all things twirling and laughing. She had the best laugh!Ben, Max, and her grandchildren and all who knew her, thankfully, have so many wonderful memories that she will be thought of every day for the rest of their lives. She lived every second to the fullest. All that aside, I join so many others in disbelief and so much sadness that Susan is gone. The beauty of teaching and coaching, however, is that your legacy will live on in your students. What a legacy she gave us all. Gina Branley Hutchinson, Red Stars, Derry, New Hampshire.
So sorry for your loss. Susan was am amazing woman and will be missed. She touched so many lives but her legacy will live on though baton forever.
Our condolences to the Orr family. My son has been in Susan's baton class this fall at Orchard, and he so enjoyed learning from her. You are in our prayers.
I was shocked and saddened at the sudden passing of Susan. Her bright smile, and cheery disposition always made her a welcome addition to any event. I have known Susan as a Judge and Coach for more than 40 years and more recently as the inventor of the non slip baton. She was a shining light in the twirling world. Her students loved her and contest directors appreciated her dedication. She will be missed.
Susan was a beautiful woman. We met Susan through her father Frank Dailey. We were stuck by Susan's devotion to her father, helping to care for his needs and always supporting his passion to be involved in magic to the very end. As a family we are blessed to have known Frank, Susan and Sharon. The Sherlock's pray for your family's strength and peace in the midst of your loss. We also wanted you to know that our lives were made better through knowing Susan. God Bless you all!
I was so very sorry to hear of Susan's sudden passing. I will always remember her heartfelt smile and enthusiasm for whatever she was doing. I followed her home, one very snowy afternoon, from Orchard School. It was about a three hour drive. She was driving her red convertible. We used to joke about that very long trip home. Will miss her. My condolences to her family.
Susan was a wonderful woman. As a former student of hers, I spent many nights at the Danville Armory in her classes and at her home for private lessons. She truely helped me to become the person I am today, always emphasizing poise and grace and a positive enthusiastic attitude. Her lessons will always stay with me. I was blessed and honored to have known such a remarkable woman.
Sue touched everyone in a positive way every day. I feel so blessed she took the time to come to Iowa. Heaven is a better place with Susan ther.
I already shared this story with Ben, but I remember being at a McDonald's playground when Ben and I were in kindergarten and I fell and hurt myself and was scared and confused and instead of running to my mom, I ran to Mrs. Orr instead. I realized after some time that she wasn't my mom, but I kept crying and hugging anyway, because I knew she could make it better. She did make it better, like good mamas do. She will be missed, but her impact on the world will live on. Thank you, Mrs. Orr, for being one of the good ones.
I was blessed to have Susan in my life. May your wonderful memories comfort you always.
Mrs Orr coached my granddaughters, Emily and Marissa Brimer. I didn't know her well, but enough to know what a wonderful person she was. My sincere condolences to her family, friends and students. She was truly a lovely lady and we were all blessed to know her, whether we were her best friend or an acquaintance. She was larger than life to everyone who knew her.
Susan was always so eager to help and have many memories of her coming to Michigan to teach the Saline Twirlettes. Her style, gracie and class was awe inspiring. She had a special way of teaching and making everyone feel so good; students, parents and the teachers. It was always so special to see her friendly face at twirling events. She is one of the best and will be truly missed. THe picture with her grandaugher will forever stay in our hearts. With love,,thinking of her family. Saline Twirlettes, Susan Usher
Mrs. Orr was a wonderful person. Her love for her sport and her kids was evident in all she did. We loved taking Emily to lessons just to have a few minutes to watch or talk to her. The support she showed for her students was amazing. She was always so happy and kind. Rest in peace dear. She will be missed.
Mrs. Orr was so much more than a baton coach. She was a mentor and a friend. She supported me even after I stopped taking lessons and I really appreciated that. Rest in peace. I will miss you.
Mrs. Orr was a woman who touched so many hearts. A beautiful spirit who brightened any room she entered. Positivity, enthusiasm and sweetness were just some of her gifts to the world. Your family will be in my prayers during this difficult time. Sincerely, Cate Ashby
