Obituary of Steven Louis Evan

Steven L. Evan, age 81, of Avon, Indiana, passed peacefully at home Friday, July 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born May 27,1943 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Steve is the son of Barbara June (Hoppas) Evan and Louis Steven Evan.

After a 6-week courtship, on November 28, 1964, he married the love of his life, Linda J. (Gray) Evan, who preceded him in death.

Steve was a Navy veteran and a proud member of the UA Local 440 Pipefitters and Steamfitters for several decades. He spent most of his career working for BMWC Constructors, retiring in 2009. He inspired many to join the trade he loved and was a wonderful, respected leader and mentor.

Steve enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing with family and friends. The stories surrounding these trips created hysterical laugh-out-loud memories that will be shared for generations. He was a phenomenal golfer and won several amputee golf tournaments across the state. Another passion was archery where he excelled and won numerous state titles and set multiple state records as a senior. He had so many successes in life, but his most important was his family. Family was everything to him and he loved them fiercely and unconditionally, just as they loved him.  His friends were never anything less than family to him.

He lived life to the fullest and never ever wasted a minute!

Steve is survived by his son, Steven S. and his wife Jenny; daughter, Misty L. and her husband Randy; daughter, Dawn M. and her husband, Mark. Blessed with 17 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren with 1 soon to be here. His dearest sister,Judy Page, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his grandson, Alan Michael Plummer.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly ask that contributions in Steven's name be made to Amputee Coalition 601 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Suite 420, South Building Washington, DC 20004
