Obituary of Brownell Norman "Kookie" Payne Jr.

Brownell (Kookie) Norman Payne Jr, 59, of Indianapolis, Indiana has moved on to eternity on December 18th, 2019. Brownell was born on January 21, 1960 in Indianapolis, IN to Brownell Sr. and LauWana McDamon Payne. A loyal son, a loving brother, a supportive and loving father, uncle, a faithful friend, mentor, and a helping hand to all in need; always ready with a statement of encouragement. Brownell, a graduate of North Central High School and Student of Ball State University, lived in Indianapolis, Indiana where he pursued a career as an optician and business owner. Brownell was under the leadership in spiritual life at a young age at Light of the World Christian Church (Second Christian Church), Indianapolis, IN. Brownell was very active as a certified scuba diver where he provided very cherished services to the Indianapolis Zoo helping with underwater marine life. He also spent many years as a personal assistant to Alan Clowes before his death. Brownell was a people person who embraced family and the simplicity of what life represented. Brownell is proceeded by his Father, Brownell, Sr., sister, Denise Yvette; survived by Mother LauWana McDamon Payne of Carmel, IN; brother Keith Irvin Payne (Kim) of Indianapolis, IN; daughters Taylor Smith, Kalani Payne; sons Jacob Payne, Grant Payne; nieces Chase Payne & Dolc Payne. His family would like to express an extra thank you to all extended family, friends and others who were part of his life. We also would like to say a special thanks to his church family and friends who have been very helpful to all requests. Thank you for loving Brownell as much as we do. We are so grateful for everyone's support you have shown.
