Condolences
Sincerely MaryRomero

I will never forget the love and kindness Grisel showed to me when we were kids. Every time I saw her she was smiling and laughing. There was no way to have a dull time with her around. Grisel’s beauty radiated from an inside light. I hope she knew how much she was loved and adored by her community. She was an inspiration to us all. My prayers are with the Barajas family. Rest easy baby girl.
Hay una fiesta en el cielo con la llegada de otra hija a la casa del padre y de segura allá estará tocando buena música . RIP

Grisel was always such a ray of light- always smiling, laughing and friendly to all. She's what all of us should aspire to be. It's such a loss to loose someone like that way too soon. I was lucky enough to know her through middle school and high school (Zoology and spring break in Florida were definitely the highlights). I forget a lot from those days years ago but am grateful I can remember such a positive person. My deepest sympathies to her family and friends, may she always live on in your hearts forever.
Grisel, you were taken to fast from us. I loved seeing all your post and learning of all the things you did for the Latino community in Indianapolis. You had a heart of gold. You were willing to help who ever. I remember reaching out to you about a student I knew who wanted to be like you. You are open to meet her and talk to her about her future career choice. When I gave her your information she was so thankful and excited. We grew up together and we had good times, NC dances, sleepovers, shopping trips, Latino day at the state fair, the list goes on. Just know, you might be gone physically, but you are with us emotional and mentally. Tu espíritu positivo y tu sonrisa siempre estará con nosotros. Until we meet again! My thoughts and prayers are with your Baraja-Espinoza family -Jackie Salcedo
Mi más sentido pésame para la familia Barajas Espinoza a su esposo Jil pronta recuperación.
Grisel Was a very Happy person And i loved that about her. Always listening to her on the radio brought a smile to my face. I looked up to her sooo much. Her advice , her laugh her Smile. Just beautiful personality. The radio Will not be the same without her
Grisel was a magnet for happiness. I met Grisel in high school, when we were about 14 or 15. She—along with Allison, Elaine, and Ronnie—and I were thick as thieves for a time. Even then, her presence commanded attention. She was bold, smart, and empathetic to all. Grisel was the only fellow Latino I knew while growing up in Indianapolis. She understood the difficulties and struggles that our people went through better than anyone. She represented the Latino community proudly and quickly became a young Latina leader. My life was transient, but Grisel always seemed to find a way to reconnect with me when I returned to Indy. I don't think I've ever been impressed more by one of my childhood friends than I was by Grisel. Grisel was incredibly talented and always sought to use her talents to empower others. When I returned to Indy from the Army, she was emceeing a Women Latina Leaders empowerment event with the Indiana Latino Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence. While I was in college, she was coordinating mentoring events to help Latinx youth get into college with the Indiana Latino Institute. When I graduated from college, she invited and interviewed me for a Latino veteran's perspective on national immigration policies with National Public Radio. And when I went off to law school, she was already an accomplished television personality with Indy Telemundo. She was destined for greatness from day one. With all my might, I can't even muster up a single memory of Grisel without a smile on her face. That's how I will always remember her: a vibrant leader, a loving friend, a shining star in the night sky. Mi amiga, que descanse en paz.
Nothing will ever be the same without you, you knew how to get to people’s heart ❤️. I was lucky enough to have shared some good memories with you.. love you always Gris. #TuChavaDeLaRadio Jah Bless
I have the pleasure of meeting Grisel when we were both and middle school together we then went on to high school. I always knew that she had a talent that would lead her to television or anything else Grisel was one of those type of people that always brought a smile to people's faces when they met her. Thank you Grisel for allowing me to be your friend fly high among the angels. Class of 2006 made it a good year because you was in it no matter what you brought a smile to everybody's face and will never forget you Thanks for the Memories Panther Pride forever love you girl and we'll miss you
Our family was fortunate enough to know Grisel and all her family since grade school at Westlane middle school. My daughter (Elaine) and her were the best of friends thru middle school and high school and remained so thru the present. Their jobs and careers kept them busy but they always found time to reconnect. I remember vacations , parties and weddings with Grisel. My husband and I were always happy to see her and proud of the lady she had become. She is in Gods hands now.
Tu nunca seras olvidada amiga mia ❤️ Te quiero muchisimo
I met Grisel in high school and that was honestly the extent of our relationship. But as someone who has a foggy memory, I remember her vividly! She was a bright light and always smiling and laughing or making someone else smile and laugh. A couple years ago I came across her Facebook and was not surprised at all to see all that she had accomplished. It was inspiring. I’m so glad she was able to live such a full life. Full of love and service and not only dreaming but doing. I’m also so sorry to have this world lose her.
My best friend is Susie Gilbert and her daughter Elaine's best friend was Grisel. Elaine did a lot of things with Grisel during junior high and high school. She would help us volunteer at the Headless Horseman at Conner Prairie with her sister Lizbeth numerous times. Grisel went on vacation with us several times to the Florida Keys and we always had so much fun. She was always smiling and laughing. We went to Key West one time and a man walked up to us and said he would like to have our daughter be in modeling school. He was referring to Grisel. Her smile and sense of humor were contagious. I was looking at all of the pictures of her and there isn't one of them where she doesn't have a beautiful smile on her face. I hadn't seen Grisel in awhile but I am not surprised that she was doing so well in her career and giving back to her community. I know how much her Mom, Dad and sisters will miss her. There are a very close family and even as a young girl you could tell how much they meant to her. I truly feel blessed to have known Grisel and privileged to have been a recipient of her wonderful personality, smile and sense of humor.
There’s so much I can say about this young woman. We met right before she turned 21 and was learning how to do nails. First time I seen her, I got fired and arrested two hours after I got out of jail, I called the place where she was learning to do nails for a job and that’s how we met. We immediately clicked and had a great bond. One of the last few songs I ever recorded was a love song about Grisel, that song is now so much more powerful on my emotions now. It’s painful yet comforting. For Grisel mom, Years ago Grisel sent you a selfie of us on the way to the wedding. I never saw that picture and would love to know if it still exists. Condolences to Family, friends and to all her fans.
Grisel had a gravitating personality! She lit up any room she walked in because of her smile and her overall kindness to everyone. I remember towards the end of high school she talked about all she wanted to accomplish and from afar it was always a pleasure to see what she had become. Even though we lost touch over the years, she would randomly pop into my mind of being one of the people from high school that I remembered most and that’s due to her simply being her! She will be missed! My condolences to the family during this time! God bless!
I so admired your strength, your resolve and your determination. I remember you fondly when I was teaching. You will be sincerely missed and loved by all that met you. Big loss for everyone.
Grisel was one of my closest friends in middle school & high school. She was always smiling, encouraging others, and she was the brightest light in the room. Her laugh was contagious and her smile was beautiful. She was the kindest, warmest person that I was blessed to share so many fun memories with over the years. We lost touch through college, but I always followed her on social media- watching her dreams come true of making a difference in every life she touched. She was living her dream by helping others achieve theirs. My deepest condolences to the Barajas- Espinoza family and to her countless friends. Sending prayers to you all as we all find comfort in the memories we had with her. ❤️
Sending my deepest condolences to the entire family. -Lauren Beckley & Family
Praying and wishing for peace for the entire Barajas-Espinoza family. -Stephanie Spencer
Like everyone, I am deeply saddened by Grisel’s sudden passing. Grisel was such a bright, funny, kind, and extremely talented woman. She was a pleasure to work with. I will never forget her contagious smile and camaraderie — she was always smiling! I have no doubt that she touched the lives of everyone she met. My thoughts and prayers are with Grisel’s family, friends, and loved ones. She was taken from this world too soon. Although she is no longer with us, she will never be forgotten.
