Condolences
We are so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. He was a true loyal fan of Marian University.
My brother, Ray Brown will miss him dearly, They were friends for so many years.,

I have fond memories of Jim from our days at Saint Meinrad, and very much enjoyed reconnecting with him at one of our reunions several year ago. Jim always had a ready smile and a good sense of humor. Am confident that he is now celebrating with all the saints.
Besides seeing Jim in Mass at St. Michael the Archangel, I often remember him driving a lawn mower at MariAn University.
Jim was a great devotee to MariAn and I laughed when I saw that Stevens Mortuary misspelled Marian in its obit write up. (Spelling the college as Marion College. Marion College is now Indiana Wesleyan University).
I am glad that Jim remained a faithful servant of Jesus Christ and his church throughout his life, and that now he can enjoy eternal peace with the Lord. What I will miss most was Jim's laugh and his great sense of humor. Farewell old classmate (of the Latin School and St. Meinrad)!

Jim and I had lunch at MCL Cafeteria often with a small group of other friends. He a a delight! I got him a French Bible while I was in France…he loved reading God’s Word in French! He loved the Marian University students and his family so much.
Jim was a faithful classmate of ours at Saint Meinrad. He had a great love for his family and the children he had the privilege of teaching. He had a marvelous way of sharing his joys with us. May he now rest in the peace of Christ he loved and served so well.

Jim Armstrong was a great friend to me and my family for nearly sixty years. He was also my son Christopher’s godfather. We all treasure many memories of Jim and the many events and celebrations that we shared with him.
I always admired his proficiency in French, his knowledge of jazz, his teaching skills, his incomparable sense of humor and his deep commitment to his faith. Jim liked everyone he encountered and prayed for them whether they were among the living or the deceased.
He was a creature of habit and stuck to his opinions on all subjects, including religion, food choices , favorite movies , tv shows and sports. As his picture suggests, he loved Marian University where he obtained his teaching credentials and worked on staff for ten years after retirement.
Jim was a bit like St. Francis in that he loved nature and lived a spartan existence placing little value on material things but embraced the spiritual instead.
Even though I will miss Jim, I know that he will experience the eternal joys for which he longed. Rest in peace, my friend.
My condolences to Jim's family. I taught at St. Monica in the early 70's with him and we often bantered about sports and current events. His sense of humor was a trademark of his personality.
Jim taught our 5 children as 4th grade teacher at St Monica school in the 1970’s. He also participated in the Spirit of Joy prayer group that met at St Monica’s during the early years of the charismatic renewal under Fr Al Ajamie’s pastorate. We thought very highly of him.

Nancy,
My deepest sympathy for the loss of your brother Jim. You and your family are in my prayers.
So sorry to hear about Jim’s passing. I always enjoyed his frequent visits to Car-X and the conversations we shared.
Jim was always making plays on words influenced heavily by our beloved Uncle Bill Murray. And he sure loved his French too! Best of all my brother Jim was a mighty prayer warrior and intercessor on behalf of hundreds people for whom he often prayed for. You’re HOME at last. I love you! I miss you!
