William Virgil Bowman, 71, of Indianapolis passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022. He was born in Seymour, IN to Jerry DeWayne and Mildred L. Bowman on April 2, 1950. William worked as an engineer for the City of Indianapolis. He proudly served our country as a Commander of the United States Navy. He was a Shihan with World Karate Do Miura Dojo. He was a member of American Legion Brownsburg Lincoln Post 331 and a servant at Chapel Rock Food Pantry. William enjoyed woodworking. He loved o travel and most of all, he loved spending time with his family. William was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Mildred Bowman. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia “Patty” Bowman; daughters, Cory (Chad Thomas) of Hebron, KY and Elizabeth (Roger Sweet) Bowman of Indianapolis; granddaughters, Jacquelyn Windle of Indianapolis, Danielle (Michael) Fordyce of Burlington, KY, and Alycia Sweet of Indianapolis; grandson, A.J. Scott of Erlanger, KY; great granddaughters, Sophia Sanfillippo and Isabella Windle of Indianapolis, Riley Scott and Skylar Fordyce of Burlington, KY; great grandson, William Scott of Burlington, KY; sisters, Kathy Greenlee and her spouse, Sharon Reddick and her spouse and Vera Malinee and her spouse all of Indianapolis; and his brother, Tom Bowman and his spouse of Indianapolis.
