Bud Meiring was the Chief Boiler Inspector of Indiana when I met him as a freshly commissioned inspector. I later considered him a mentor and friend. In our first conversation, he asked about my family and fondly spoke of his own. He then discussed his passion for doing the job (of inspections) well and that if I called he would "have one hand on the phone and one on the code books". I have taken that stance as a leader of my group of inspectors.
My favorite stories of Bud are of those interactions we had in the years that followed the first meeting. He was always a professional and a reasonable leader. To this day, he is still the best Chief I had interactions with. He would speak of the code and use the comment "It's like the bible, speak where it speaks and be silent where it is". My sympathy to the family in the time of your loss. Bud, rest in peace...Fair winds and Following Seas! Thank you for setting the course of my career.
Mary & family,
You have my deepest sympathy on the loss of your husband/ father. I didn’t know Bud long, but I enjoyed visiting and giving him communion. You and your family are in my prayers at this difficult time. God Bless!

It saddened me to learn of Bud’s passing; He was one of the good guys.
My name is Danny Willis and I knew Bud for many years, both as an associate and a friend.
I once worked for an insurance company, and was less than happy in that employment. At that time, I had two friends and former associates who were employed by Bud and the Indiana Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety Division. Both related to me that Bud was the best man that they had ever worked for.
To make a long story short, I interviewed with and went to work for Bud and I agreed (and still agree) with the opinion expressed by my former associates; Bud was the best Boss (and one of the best men) that I have ever known as well.
Bud my friend, you will be missed - Danny
I am so sorry to hear of Bud’s passing, and I want to send my deepest condolences to Mary, Roberta, Louie and Tony (even though I may not be remembered by all of them). My name is Paul Stergar and I am Mary’s cousin. My dad Albert (also known as Andy or Red) was Mary’s uncle. My favorite memory of Bud is the simple fact that when he would visit our home when I was a kid, my dad enjoyed his visit. That wasn’t always the easiest thing to accomplish with my dad, but Bud always seemed to put my dad in a good mood. This is a tribute to Bud, and I thank him for it.
Bud, I hope you find the shortest path possible to heaven. May God bless you.
