Obituary of Mark T. Thomas

Mark Terry Thomas, the oldest son of Terry and Janice (Poush) Thomas, passed away April 21, 2021 in Indianapolis, IN. He was born June 3, 1963 in Litchfield, MN. He is survived by his parents and brother Bradley Thomas and wife Melody, sisters Tamara Cummings and Corey Yung. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Austin & Amber Henderson, Sabrienne Duncan, Logan Thomas, Jenna Thomas, Nathan Temple, Elizabeth Cummings and Joshua Cummings and great nieces Jade and Braylee Henderson and great nephew, Carson Dillon. Many aunts, uncles and cousins join the immediate family in grieving the loss of Mark. In 1981 Mark graduated from Stryker, Ohio high school after being inducted in the National Honor Society and being selected to be in the Who’s Who in American High Schools. After working a few years in restaurants, Mark moved to California where he leaves a host of friends including a very special friend, Kathleen McCann, and a goddaughter, Antonia Leto to mourn his passing. He worked for the Learning Annex and Prudential Real Estate before making the move to work in hospice, the profession that became a calling for him. As a gentle, kind and compassionate person, Mark had a special ability to comfort the patients and families of those needing the services as he interacted with them in his various positions he held. He was passionate about meeting the needs of these people, sometimes maybe seeming to make things difficult for others but always wanting what he saw as best for the patient. In 2016 Mark returned to Indianapolis to be near his family. He worked for Jane Pauly Clinics briefly but soon return to his calling and was working for Season’s Hospice at the time of his death. Mark enjoyed cooking and frequently prepared wonderful dinners for the family and friends to enjoy. Traveling was another interest, as he enjoyed several trips to Mexico where he was immersed in the culture while living in the home of a local family. Mark played in the high school band and had a love for classical music. He also enjoyed bird watching, raising succulents and had a special love for children, especially nieces and nephews. He was a very loving and caring son, brother, and uncle. His passing leaves a large empty spot in all of our lives. A celebration of Mark’s life will be May 1, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Grace Pointe Church of the Nazarene, 10951 E County Road 100 South, Indianapolis, IN 46231, with visitation from 9-11 before the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Seasons Hospice Foundation, 8537 Solution Center, Chicago, IL 60677
