What a beautifully written summary of a lovely lady's contributions to the world. Knowing Candi for many years, I see her mother's attributes are living on in her kindness toward others. I am truly sorry for the loss of this amazing family matriarch. May His peace and comfort guard your hearts and minds as you honor this life well lived.

It is with great memories that I pray that the family find comforted in knowing that Mother Mattie was loved and respected by all. I can remember the time went I called her home and pretended to be a man wanting to take her out on a date while her husband was still here. Her response was one that had everyone falling out on the floor with laughter because she made it known that she was a happily married woman who only had eyes for Mr. Wyatt.

I was always happy to visit her when in town because she knew no strangers and she always welcome anyone in her home and wanted them to eat. She never wanted anyone to feel like they were not welcome.

Mattie loved and I mean Loved her daughter Candi (aka:Ms. Gaines) who took care of her when her health was failing. Ms. Gaines went above and beyond the call of duty. I pray that Ms. Gaines finds peace knowing that she did everything a daughter could do to see that her Mother's last year was one filled with enjoy, peace and happiness. Ms. Gaines her Mother is home now, so you can dry your eyes. As the song says: She has gone up to Heaven to be with Her Lord.
