Margaret was like the church grandma. She always had a smile on her face and all the children adored her. I can remember when she took upon herself to gather pictures of all the church children to hang on the bulletin board across from the kiosk. She loved each child in the parish as if it were her own. When I think of godly women in the bible, I think of Margaret. She will be greatly missed. May her memory be eternal!
Margaret couldn't drive herself to the grocery store after she was dealing with numbness in her feet, so we'd go shopping together. We became good friends. I loved to hear her reminisce about her growing up in her family, because the love that she had for her parents and brothers radiated out as she told the stories. Later when visiting her at the nursing home whenever she talked about her great grandchildren all cares would melt away and her face shined.
As her daughter-in-law, I used to smile to myself as she sat in her wheelchair near the communion line, and folks would come along after communing and touch your hand, greet her, hug her, kiss her… she was “holding court with her subjects...”
May her memory be eternal! Condolences to the family.
Margaret was always so happy to see friends, especially the youngest amongst us! She would always make herself available to babysit Matthias. She was so proud of her son Fr. David in his calling as a priest, and beamed with joy and honor when present at our church services. Often surrounded by many generations of family, she was greatly loved. Memory eternal to a friend whose life was well lived!
