Condolences
I met Joe and Stasia at Primrose It was the best time I was able to be his guardian for the Honor Flight 2015. I felt honored in itself as he was so excited to go I remember how he read the mail call on the plane ride back home and how it was for him very emotional. He had a great sense of humor but was quiet too, I was looking on through pictures and found those from DC. I still have my shirt I will forever remember him and how he adored Stasia . They were a young at heart couple I hope that she finds comfort and peace in the days ahead I am so very sorry for your loss But WOW! what a wonderful Life he had he truly lived it!

My condolence to the family.. Joe was wonderful man.I am so sorry for your loss.
Kara,
I am so sorry for your loss. Your dad sounds like a remarkable man, someone to be very proud of.
Thank you, Dad, for being an American Hero.
Suddenly, there were twins born, 4/6/60, in Milwaukee. What a change in life that must have been.
Before I knew what was happening, we were on a long adventure: first, Boston, where Kathy and I were inseparable; then came Gary.
Next, we ended up in Milwaukee again. I remember we would get apples from the trees in the back yard.
Suddenly, Jim appeared. Lots of fun. Now there were four kids.
We then moved to Kokomo, and Kara was born, and even more fun.
Off we went every summer to Michigan to grandma and grandpas and the Great Lakes. That’s where we learned to swim and fish.
Thanks Dad for spending time taking us to cross-country, track, and swimming practice, and playing basketball in the driveway. I will never forget our vacations as kids to Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, the Badlands, Boston, Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons, and the Upper Peninsula.
I am so glad that you took all the video recordings when I was younger so that I can always remember.
I will never forget spending time when we got together, in New Mexico…hiking in the mountains, enjoying the balloons in October, and camping in Questa, where I had a flat tire in the Silverado on our way into the campgrounds. The spare tire was flat, and we stayed together in the bed of the truck, until morning. We fixed the tire and we were back at the camp.
Thank you Stasia for being there with Dad over the years.
I love you Dad,
Kevin
Being Joe’s cousin has been a life long pleasure. Growing up in Marion, living half of a block from him and Ed, sharing our bikes, our baseballs, playing kick the can the was always fun. All of the Huneck’s in town went to St. Paul’s Catholic School as a family. We never thought of being cousins; we were a family. The world is a sadder place without Joe in it. I will miss his smiles, his love and concern for everyone. My deepest sympathy and love to Stasia, Kevin, Kathy, Gary, Jim, and Kara. Mary Ann Huneck Batcho
Joseph and Anastacia were the first couple we met when we moved to Indiana. My husband and I purchased their home in Jerome. We were so blessed. Joseph came to the house after we moved in to show us how to turn things off and on, how to keep up with the pond, etc. He and his wonderful wife wrote letters to us with the phone numbers of all the neighbors and told the neighbors we were coming and asked them to be welcoming and helpful as we did not know a single person in Indiana. He would call just to see if we were doing alright and adjusting. I was so overcome by his kindness. I wish the world had more men like Joseph. We are blessed to have known him for a short time. He is a man who will not be forgotten. Darlene & Gerry Vasquez
When my mother was ill, my Dad's sister Frances (Boleman) Huneck and her husband Gilbert took me and my two sisters (Marilyn and Pat) into their home while our mother was recovering. It was a lively home with Joe and his brother Edward always very active. I have many great memories of that time. I even learned a little bit about basketball cheering for Joe and his St. Paul teammates. Over years our contact was mostly via Christmas cards and pictures of the growing families. Many years later, my husband and I traveled from Alabama to attend Joe and Anastasia's wedding and the party afterwards. I would like to offer my prayers and condolences to Anastasia and Joe's children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.

I will always remember the camping trip Kevin and I went with Dad to Williams Lake, Colorado. During this trip Dad took me on a "little" hike back to Williams Creek. It was one of the scariest, but exciting, things I've done. The trail literally hugged the side of the mountain and I was so scared. Needless to say, I have not done much hiking in my life and never on a mountain trail. Dad just calmly talked me through it and I made it. The trail opened up to a beautiful meadow and a little further was Williams Creek which fed into Williams Lake. We sat on a log over the rushing water and ate our snack. Along the way Dad educated me on the bear scat we came across. He told me how fresh it was or how old, which might determine if there were any bears close by. Some was fairly fresh. Of course that was a little scary.
Another most memorable time was when Dad and Stasia came to visit us in NM. It just happened to be Balloon Fiesta time. Dad was so excited because some of the balloons literally landed just outside our fence. One of the nights we could see the balloon challenge balloons take off for their race across the U.S. We watched them until they went over the Sandia Mountains out of sight. That was a great memory and a wonderful visit with Dad and Stasia.
I called him Dad because he was a Dad to me. I will miss him. Love you Dad, Debbie.
