Obituary of Richard Kent Smeltzer
Richard Kent Smeltzer, 59, Pittsboro passed away unexpectedly in Brownsburg on February 13th, 2020.
Kent was born in Tipton on March 7th, 1960. He graduated from Hamilton Heights High School in 1978. Kent worked for R&D Transport for 27 years where he performed multiple duties including anything from driving a truck to manning the dispatch desk. He married Denise (Pitcher) on July 20,1996. Together they raised 3 wonderful children in Pittsboro. Kent was always at the athletic events supporting each of them, whether it was band, football or cheer. Kent was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts and Nascar racing.
Kent is survived by his wife, Denise, children Cody Swaniger, Matthew Smeltzer and Sara Smeltzer; brother Kelly (Jamie) Smeltzer; sister Karen (Chris) Gellinger; brother in-laws Scott Pitcher and John Beckham; sister in-law Michelle Beckham along with numerous nieces and nephews
He is preceded in death by his parents Ivan & Shirley Smeltzer
Gathering of family and friends will be Saturday February 22, 2020 from 10am to 12pm with a memorial service at 12pm at the Whitestown United Methodist Church in Whitestown Indiana.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Smeltzer family.
