My deceased husband, Dave Reeves, played on the 1965 Ball State team with Middy and I was lucky to be one of the cheerleaders. All I ever remember from Middy was a big smile, kind words, and lots of laughter!
I enjoyed being at the service and hearing what an impact he made on friends and athletes he coached. It was fun to see his handsome family, as well.
My heart goes out to Melinda as I have lost two husbands to cancer and I know how much you wish you could change things when caring for them. Life seems too short. Wonderful memories help!
i will miss forever my good friend Middy. He, June and I spent the better part of twenty years traveling and competing for the best gourmet meals, as we shared and relived our years at Ball State. His humor on surprise visits to palm beach will never be forgotten or topped. Rest in peace my good friend. with love, John
We’ve lost a great friend, brother, story teller and bigger than life personality. So sad-RIP “Middy”.
Remember Steve at grade school and Washington H.S. Played football with him at school #67. Lots of fond memories as a kid. RIP Les Stamm
I was a football team member with Steve at Ball State. He was quite the leader as well as an outstanding player. He loved his team and the coaches. Steve also was a great organizer for our team reunions and instrumental in pushing for the 1965 team to be inducted into the Ball State HOF.
My deepest condolences to his family. He was a special person.
Steve was a lifelong friend as we went to grade school, high school and then college at Ball State. We were great friends during these years and had a ton of memories! I am saddened by his passing and will truly miss him!
Much love to Melinda and his family, prayers and deepest sympathy to you all!
RIP old friend
Steve was more than a simple good friend. His strategic assistance in our young family's life defined our happy trajectory in ways we could never adequately repay.
1) He, Ann and Kelly were the first persons to welcome us in our Indianapolis rental home shortly after we arrived.
2) Steve and Ann ushered us to our new neighborhood, so that we could be neighbors twice, and where we now have lived 30 years.
3) Secured a bank loan so Bill could start a surgical practice.
4) Invited us to join Foolish Fathers making wonderful memories in the caves of southern Indiana, now treating our grandsons to these caves.
We have such rich lives having been blessed by the goodness and laughter of Steve.
We send our heartfelt sympathy and love to his family.

We had so many fun times at Highland CC over the years and will truly be missed. He was a great guy to be with we laughed, had great times and played golf over the years. June and family please accept our sincerest sympathies.

I consider Steve's daughter and her family to be my chosen family. I've had the pleasure of spending time with Steve at Holiday gatherings. He always had a smile and a great sense of humor. He will be missed.
My husband and I both worked at Merchants Bank. My husband moved from the lending side to the investment area and worked (played) with Steve. He was a big guy with a huge personality and always joking and making you laugh. His best jokes poked fun at himself.
I am sorry that he is gone. He was one of a kind. My sincere condolences to his family.
My sincere condolences to the family. Steve was a bigger than life character all the years I knew him and worked for & with him! Met him in 1977 at Merchants Bank when I started my first “real” job at the ripe age of 17. Like my friend, Jeanne Lowe, said I too will always remember that searsucker suit! Lol. He made a big impact on me as a young and inexperienced “banker”. He helped me learn the ropes and when he left MNB to go over to INB - he paved a way for me there as well - he looked out for me and I always appreciated that about him - he was fiercely loyal.
I was very sad to hear the news of his passing. May his life In the hereafter be as big as it was here on earth. God bless and comfort all who loved him.
I am sorry for your family. I worked for Steve for several years at Merchants Bank / Indiana National Bank. I always loved the bantering back and forth when the OJ Simpson trial was going on. He taped it every day and watched at night. He was convinced that OJ was innocent.
All of our Clients waited in anticipation for their invitation to the Annual Golf Outing that was held at Broadmoor Country Club. The best Golf Outing Ever!
I will never forget how he loved his Searsucker Suit.
God bless the family.
Jeanne Lowe
Will always remember him as a kind, funny guy in his teens. He spent many days at our home, and was always a joy to be around. He definitely will be missed by many.
RIP Steve,
One of a kind. Loved his family and friends.
He was entertaining, funny, awesome cook and loved cooking for friends and family.
You will be missed big guy.
It was sad to learn that Steve has passed. Given his personality, I know he fought the good fight all the way to the end. I met Steve back in the '80s through the Dealer Bank Association, and then interacted with him later at various bond market activities. He was a great professional who later became a good friend. While I've only seen him a handful of times over the last ten to fifteen years, he was never further away than a phone call or an email where we could compare notes or share the most recent joke. He loved his kids and always wanted to talk about what they were up to in life. He'll be missed: a good guy gone too soon. Godspeed, Steve.
