Mass of Christian Burial
Obituary of Dennis J. Hammond
Dennis John Hammond
Born January 8, 1962 in Indianapolis, IN, to William J. Hammond and Marjorie A. (Yaggi) Hammond, both of whom preceded him in death.
Denny was a quiet, gentle soul with a free spirit who accidentally and unexpectedly left this world on May 18, 2019 at the age of 57. He leaves behind his dear son, his family, his co-workers at Cook Medical, and lifelong friends. Dennis was proud to serve in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant in the 581st Maintenance Co., NTC Support Battalion, in Ft. Irwin, California, until discharge in 1987. After several transitions, he happily settled in the countryside of “Sweet” Owen County.
Always the outdoorsman, Denny loved everything nature. He loved sports, especially football, auto racing, and fishing. He truly enjoyed riding his horse, Hank, accompanied by his dog, Sparky.
Survivors include his son, Dylan Wyatt Hammond, Spencer, IN; his brothers, Robert J. (Bethann) Hammond, Indianapolis; Murray W. (Barbara) Hammond, Cincinnati, OH; and sister, Mary Beth (Greg) Fehribach, Indianapolis. Also surviving are his aunts, Judith A. Yaggi; Sue (Landman) Yaggi; and Barbara (Hammond) Mascari; five nephews, three nieces, five great nephews, three great nieces, and a number of cousins.
