Obituary of Joseph A. Banich
Joseph A. Banich, 94, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2018. He was born in Indianapolis, IN on December 23, 1923 to Louis & Rose (Horzen) Banich. Joe proudly served his country during WWII for the United States Army & was the recipient of 5 Bronze Star Medals & the Purple Heart Medal. Joe was a former member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church & of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Joe was a member of the Haughville Slickers polka band, St. Aloysius KSKJ Lodge #52, & the Slovenian National Home. He worked at General Motors until he retired in 1984, & volunteered at St. Vincent Hospital until 2008.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, and by his loving & devoted wife of 62 years, Anna (Logay) Banich, who passed away exactly 4 years ago on the exact day. He is also preceded in death by brothers Louis Jr., John, Anthony Sr., sisters Rosie Banich, Mary Yamnik, Josephine Furlong, and Angela Spencer.
Joseph is survived by daughter JoAnn Banich, son COL Joe (Jeannie) Banich Jr. (U.S.ArmyRetired), grandsons Nick (Liza) Banich & Kevin (Audrey) Banich, and great-granddaughter Morgan Banich.
