Obituary of Scott "Boomer" Reed
Scott J. "Boomer" Reed, 54, of Avon, Indiana, passed away December 17, 2016. He was born December 1, 1962, in Anderson, Indiana, to Kenny and Joanne Reed. Boomer graduated from Anderson High School in 1981. He went on to proudly graduate from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at his beloved Indiana University in 1988, where he was also a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity.
While he was an only child, Scott was like a brother to several of the neighborhood kids he grew up with. Boomer partnered with his father at KR & Son Windows and continued to work with him though he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, and then to Avon, Indiana, to work in sales. Although he was further away from his home of Anderson, Scott regularly returned to help his father, and he never forgot where he came from.
As an avid IU fan he could often be found raising a glass to cheer on his Hoosiers. Quite the regular at Legends Bar near his home, and several others including Dealer's Choice Pub, Boomer made friends with everyone he met. From high school, to college, to his professional life, everyone knew Boomer to be the life of the party and a friend to all. While he often joked that "nobody loves Boomer," it remains abundantly clear how loved Boomer was by all.
Scott is survived by his wife of 26 years, Kerri Reed; daughter, Sydney Reed; and his mother and father, Joanne and Kenny Reed. Several aunts and uncles on Scott’s side, some of which have passed before Scott, include Ralph Reed (Kay); Morris Reed (Connie); Shirley Valentine; Larry Balser (Joyce), Ronnie Reed (Sylvia); Tom Reed (Sandy); Phil Reed (Marcia); Bill Parker (Bonnie); Carole Lochte (Richard); and numerous cousins. Grandparents of Scott include Ralph and Vera Mae Reed and Hoke and Mamie Parker, all of which have preceded him in passing. His extended family on Kerri’s side also includes parents in law Harry and Kathy Bunn; sisters in law Mary Ann Deckard (Rodney) and Tricia Hall; brother in law Greg Bunn (John Johnson); nieces and nephews Taylor and Riley Deckard, Trevor Bunn, Sam Hall, and Sarah, Michael, and Katie Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Sydney Reed for her continuing education fund.
