Dear Carol and family,
I wanted to go to the wake and funeral, but battling a rash and hernia. I remember Jim so well. Many of my children attended Ritter and were taught by him. Shay was coached by Jim. The picture of him is exactly how I remember him. Always good be around him! I'm sorry for loss! The earth, family and friends will miss him walking among us, but now he walks with the angels. May God and the Blessed Mother give you peace as you celebrate his life and mourn his temporary loss from you!!
My condolences to the family on the loss of Jim. He will be missed. Sr. Charity
My condolences to the family. The loss of a loved one is never easy. May our loving God continue to bless and strengthen you as you remember that his Word the Bible at John 5:28, 29 says that there is going to be a resurrection. With this promise it is possible for you to see him again. The best Friend a bereaved person can have is our Creator, Jehovah God. We are encouraged at 1 Peter 5:7 to pour out our heart to him in prayer because "he cares for you." Moreover, he promises that all who do so will have their thoughts and feelings soothed by "the peace of God that surpasses all understanding." (Philippians 4:6, 7) Please allow God to help you heal by means of his consoling Word, the Bible. Please feel free to check out the website www.jw.org for a wealth of spiritual information. May all the many wonderful memories that James your loved one provided comfort you during this most difficult time.
Our condolences to the Jenks Family. Mr. Jenks was a teacher and basketball coach while I attended Ritter and I thought the world of Mrs. Jenks. Thank you for sharing the photo montage of Mr. Jenks. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
I never had the opportunity to be a student in one of Mr. Jenks' classes, but I was lucky enough to have Mrs. Jenks for a few classes. Your presence at the many Ritter functions showed the students how much you both truly cared for us, and we felt the same for you which is why I'm so sad to hear about the passing of Mr. Jenks. You were a perfect example to us of what a beautiful marriage looks like. You will remain in my thoughts, and I will continue to pray for strength for you family in these next days, weeks, and months.
Really liked Jim as a coach and friend. Carol and he were instrumental in my adolescent years. Sorry for your loss Carol and family. Lucky that both of you had touched my life.
Carol, Karen and Nancy and all family members:
So sorry about Jim's passing. I know he was ill for several years. Enjoyed working with him for 17 years at Ritter. He was a man of his word and a very hard worker.
May he rest in peace.
Mr James Jenks Family,
I was the oldest of seven Petree kids who attended Ritter H.S. The staff there was exceptional and inspirational in many ways. I had always wanted to be a teacher and did go on to teach 31 years. Mr. Jenks' good example of a caring teacher who expected good work from us helped me and I'm sure many others to be better prepared in our future endeavors. Mr. Jenks required that we do extensive research on any topic that we were writing about. He wanted us to use higher order thinking skills. Our papers were always graded with a thoroughness so that we understood and could appreciate the importance of grammar, correct spelling and fact checking. As I mentioned earlier, I also feel I benefited from his compassionate side. I was being teased and he quietly comforted me. In 1977 when our mother died, he came to the funeral Mass. It was so kind of him to do so.
It is my hope that you receive many other positive notes about Mr. Jenks to add to your your own fond personal memories. He was a good man.
RIP Mr Jenks. You were my freshman English teacher at SMHS many many years ago. To his family: I am so sorry for your loss. He was a good teacher in a noble profession.
Dear Carol and family,
Our most sincere condolences on the death of Jim. My recollections of Jim (and you) go all the way back to Holy Trinity grade school, during those fabulous 50's!! He lived his life with purpose and dedication, positively affecting many, many lives along the way.
God bless you and your family,
Steve and Nancy (Whitfield) Rasmussen
Dear Carol and family,
Our deepest condolences on the death of Jim. He lived a wonderful life and touched many, many lives along the way.
God Bless,
Nancy and Steve Rasmussen
I had the privilege of working with Jim for 12 years at St. Vincent. My how time flies. He was a blessing to me and was adored by the nurses, doctors, previous students and transportation staff. Each day he worked you could always count on laughter. He was a mentor to the younger staff - a real connection. I married into a family that knew him from Ritter and they could tell some stories! They respected and feared him as a teacher (a lot of fear).
He truly was a gentleman and a scholar.
Mrs. Jenks,
I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Jenks passing. I pray you can be comforted by all the amazing memories you shared together. Mr. Jenks was an amazing man and I am so glad I can say I was one of his students. God Bless you during this time!

I was so sorry to hear of Jim's passing and unable to attend the funeral due to being out of town. He will always be remembered as a person with a God given heart who cared deeply for those he touched. I hope the beautiful memories you share will help ease your pain. Jim and I always had a little sign for each other whenever we saw one another; please give him a little tug on your ear for me.
My sincere sympathy to all of Mr. Jenks family. What a great man. I am a Ritter grad from '73. Mr. Jenks was one of my favorites and someone of high integrity. My Dad, James W. 'Bill" Ritter who coached at Northwest HS were friends and respected each other. May you be comforted by words of Jim's former students, players and those he volunteered for and with. A great loss fo your family, Ritter HS familyl and the community. I know he was met at the Pearly Gates with the words 'Well done good and faithful servant!'. God bless you all. Lisa
A good man, teacher and coach who influenced us all at Holy Trinity. My condolences to Carole and family.
I'm extremely sorry for your loss. While I never met James, I've always held you in such high esteem as an educator and as a very kind person to my children. I'll keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

May passing time, caring friends and loving memories, work gently through the coming days to help comfort his family.
Dear Carol,
I was so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. Many of my memories of Ritter, both as a student and a teacher, somehow involve him. As a 14-year-old, I remember thinking he was so scary -- I'd heard about the "hot seat." By the time I was a senior and had him as my religion teacher, I knew he was a teddy bear behind that bluster. The class he taught was to help us to get ready to run a household. We did a detailed budget to make ends meet on the salary of our chosen professions. That class was one of the most practical that I took in my high school years. More importantly, at the same time, he taught us about the holiness of marriage, which was exemplified by your 50+ years of life together. What a beautiful witness you provided for the CRHS students when later you joined him on the faculty.
When I joined the faculty, I learned from an adult perspective that Jim was an excellent colleague with a huge sense of humor and a heart just as big. I think he spent as many hours in that building as Frank Velikan! A particular memory I have is the time I set off the school alarm after the International Dinner. Poor Jim had to come all the way to school late in the evening. Most people would have been very irritated with me, but he shrugged it off as if it were no problem at all.
Carol, you, Karen, and Nancy will be in my prayers. Losing Jim must be so hard for all of you, but it also must be a great comfort to know how loved he is and that he is with God and all the saints waiting for you to join him.
Love,
Mary
So sorry to hear this. Always loved his smile and his sense of humor. Prayers for all of you! Love, Angie Reagin(Reagan)
Dear Mrs. Jenks,
I'm so sorry to hear of your husband's passing. I don't know why I thought of this earlier today, but I recalled when you took several of us from St. Christopher to see the Ritter basketball team play. I vaguely remember sitting in the gym and watching the Raiders play. Your husband had such a positive impact on so many people! You have my sympathy.
Sincerely,
Mary Jo Armin Osting
Jim was my teacher at Cardinal Ritter High School and later my colleague when I taught there. He was a good, faithful servant of God, and his years of dedicated service to young people were a gift. He made a real difference in many lives and his contributions to Catholic education will not be forgotten.
Lots of great memories of Mr.Jenks! A Ritter staple.
I admired Mr. Jenks greatly. He was kind and inspiring as a teacher and a human. I met him while I attended Cardinal Ritter and respected him very much. My condolences to his loved ones.
I have very fond memories of Mr. Jenks while I attended Ritter. I was always glad I was in his office for a friendly visit though, because he could be tough. Now that I'm an adult, I know that was because he cared about us.
My best memory of him was when he taught religion my senior year. He kept telling us to read our Bible. I'm glad I eventually listened!
Please know I'm praying God will give you comfort now and into the future, as I'm sure you will miss him very much!
Carol so sorry for your loss, Jim was such a great guy, prayers for your family.
Mrs. Jenks and family,
My sincerest condolences and my thoughts are with you during this difficult and painful time. Praying for peace and comfort.
Hugs,
Veronica
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all! We are so sorry we will be unable to attend the services as we will be out of town. We have many great memories of our time at Cardinal Ritter with Mr. Jenks. His dedication to keeping things running smoothly by doing whatever needed to be done was appreciated. He always had a story that was humorous with a life lesson for us to remember long after high school.
So sorry.I will always remember our conversations in the cafeteria. He was a great man.Just glad visits to his office were friendly ones.
Mr Jenks will be missed. I have many fond memories of him as coach and teacher Ritter High School. You will be in my prayers at this sad time.
I remember being in grade school at Holy Trinity and this beautiful young couple were teaching there. I was at the age when it was all about love, romance and people who touched our hearts. Jim and Carol enriched all of us by the example they set. Their love for each other and the community they were dedicated to.
Years later I told Jim how I thought he was pretty hard on us as a teacher, he looked at me and said" but look at the person you have become". This to me was one of the best compliments I will ever receive.
Jim you will be missed, but remembered for all that you shared and all that you gave to us.
Carol -
I'm so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. He was a favorite teacher and will be missed. Many fond memories of his stories in class. Prayers for you and your family.
I'm sot sorry to hear of his passing. He was one of my favorite teachers at Cardinal Ritter.
Dear Carol and Family,
We are so sorry for your loss. Jim Jenks was loved and appreciated by generations of Cardinal Ritter students. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as we all mourn and celebrate the life of Mr. Jenks!
Eternal rest grant unto him O LORD, and let perpetual light shine upon him. Amen
Mr Jenks was the best teacher I had at Ritter. He had a good sense of humor and taught us things we needed in real life. Told us to visit a courtroom to see how our justice system works. Told us to buy real estate/land because there was a finite amount. The world is a sadder place without him. -
Coach Jenks one of my favorite coaches at Cardinal Ritter. He was also my drivers ed instructor, Probably the reason my insurance rates are so high today. I use to tell everybody that I was the first 20/20 player to ever graduate from Ritter High School. When we were 20 points up and there was 20 seconds left in the game, Coach Jenks would glance up and down the bench and say Coddington go in for Dunn. He was also my favorite Golf coach at Ritter. Lot of golf stories over the years. Gonna miss you Coach R.I.P. Mr. Jenks Billy C Class of 70 CRHS
