Obituary of Maria Elizabeth Stanjevich

Maria Elizabeth Stanjevich, 92, of Indianapolis, passed away March 9, 2016. She was born July 18, 1923 to Josef and Francesca Hogg in Stetten, Germany. She met her future husband, Todor, in Germany and they were married October 3, 1948. They moved to the United States in 1949 and settled in Gary, Indiana. Maria retired from Mercy Hospital in Gary, IN in 1979 and they moved to Indianapolis, IN in 1980. She was a former member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, Gary, IN and was a current member of St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church and Circle of Serbian Sisters in Indianapolis, IN. Preceding her in death was her parents; her loving husband of 55 years, Todor, who died in 2003. Survivors include her son, George Stanjevich; daughter, Anica (Stanjevich) Foreman; sisters, Irma (Karl-Ludwig) Binder and Paula Wesle; brother, Josef (Krista) Hogg; grandchildren, Erica (Andrew) Loiacono, Robert (Abigail) Foreman, Daniel (Casey) Stanjevich, Stacia Stanjevich and Averie Stanjevich; great grandchildren, Eleanor and Theodore Foreman, Vincent and Andrew Josef Loiacono; nieces; nephews; Kumovi and friends. Visitation will be held at the St. Nicholas Church, 7855 Marsh Road, Indianapolis, IN on Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 4pm -8pm with a Pomen service at 7pm. The funeral service will be on Monday, March 14 at 10am also held at St Nicholas Church. Stevens Mortuary is entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the “Building Fund” of St Nicholas Church.
