Obituary of Raymond Earl Palmer

Raymond Earl Palmer, 93, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on February 21, 2016. He was born January 26, 1923 in Ripley Co., IN to the late George and Lilly (Thomas) Palmer. Earl served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Known as Ray to his work friends, he worked in accounting at Union Carbide, Linde Air Division in Speedway, IN, his entire career, retiring in 1985. He also worked part-time in the Men’s Shoe Dept. at Block’s Department Store at Glendale and Lafayette Square. Earl had been a member of the Church of the Nazarene, at Westside, Danville and Eagledale. He loved riding his bike, working in his flower and vegetable gardens and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Earl was an excellent cook and prepared the family Sunday dinner he hosted for many years, plus Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts. Earl is preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Stella M. (Crabtree) Palmer and daughter, Janice E. (Jeff) Wilson. He is survived by his daughter Amy E. (Clay) Wilson; son, Jonathan E. (Donna) Palmer; grandchildren, Lark L. (Brady) Gurganious, Brook C. (Chris) Korb, Jonathan L. (Sarah) Palmer, Lake J. (Jacob) Wilson, Matthew A. (Jennifer) Wilson, Jenny L. (Brandon) Young, Zachery T. Wilson, Casey E. (Scott) Brendler and Stephanie K. Wilson; great grandchildren, Noah W. Gurganious, Miriam O. Gurganious, Ruth E. Gurganious, Ezra F. Gurganious, Jacklyn B. Korb, Gabrielle Q. Korb, Macy J. Korb, Corgan W. Young, Peter N. Young, and Roderick J. Brendler; sister, Edna Burdett; brothers, Kenneth Palmer, Eugene Palmer and Allen Palmer. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 3 pm – 7 pm at Stevens Mortuary 5520 W. 10th St. Indpls, IN. Funeral services will be on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 10 am also in Stevens Mortuary with visitation from 9:30 AM until time of service. Entombment will follow at Floral Park Cemetery.
