Obituary of Luba Komsiski

Luba Komsiski, 93, of Indianapolis entered the life eternal on Thursday, February 18, 2016. Luba was born in Kyustendil, Bulgaria on February 10, 1923 to Peter and Jordanka Todoroff. She married the late Atanas Komsiski, DDS to whom she was married to for over 50 years and in August of 2003; Mr. Komsiski preceded her in death. Luba attended medical school in Erlangen, Germany and graduated after World War II. She immigrated to the United States with the help of Church World Services in 1952. Luba moved directly to Indianapolis, IN. She settled down and devoted herself full-time to motherhood. After her children were grown she worked for the Central Indiana Blood Bank. She was an active member during this time at both North United Methodist and St. Stephen Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox churches. Luba was a member of Women’s circles and enjoyed bridge club, spending time with friends and neighbors. She never knew a stranger and always opened her home to new immigrants offering them encouragement. She also helped them find places to live and employment. Luba enjoyed music and theatre often attending the symphony and plays especially at Christian Theological Seminary. Luba remained a woman of faith her entire life. We take comfort in knowing that the gates of paradise are now open to her and that we shall see her again someday. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. Luba is survived by her children, daughter Jeanette (Mike) Lawson, DDS, Peter (Julie) Komsiski and George Komsiski; grandchildren, Noah Howson, Emily Howson, Vera Komsiski, Jennifer Burdine; great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Elaine, Abigail and Nathan Burdine; sister, Maria Ivanov; and nephew Orlando Ivanov.
