Obituary of Shirley Rose Heavilon
Shirley Rose Heavilon, 73, of Indianapolis, passed away on Sunday, Janaury 10, 2016. She was born on December 6, 1942 in Augusta, Maine to Adjutor Cyprian and Marian Lucille (Pursley) Betit. Shirley was a graduate of Sacred Heart Catholic High School and worked for Edward H. Schmidt Optical for many years. Shirley was a longtime member of Bluff Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir and with Calvary Sisters singing group. She enjoyed crafting, especially painting, and was personally trained by Bob Ross in oil painting. She is survived by her children, Coetta (Lattie) Rather and Chris (Angie) Jett; grandsons, Joshua, Chad, Justin, Garrett; and four great-granddaughters. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and loving husband of 35 years, William “Bill” Heavilon in 2014. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in Bluff Baptist Church 1241 W Sumner Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46217 with visitation from 12 noon until service time. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorial Contribution may be given to Bluff Baptist Church. Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St. Indpls, is entrusted with arrangements.
