Obituary of Darrell Johnson
Darrell Wayne Johnson, 56, was born in Indianapolis, IN on March 25, 1958 to Don P. and Rosie E. (Henke) Johnson. Darrell fought a tough battle against diabetes and neuropathy. Darrell lost his fight on February 20, 2015, in the comfort of his home. He is now reunited with his four legged friend, Buddi.
Darrell was a second class eagle scout in 1971. He graduated from Decatur Central High School in 1976 and went on to marry his wife of 37 years, Vickie Johnson. They had 2 children, Darla (Senturain Hicks) and Darrell Jr. (Alicia); eight grandchildren, Noah Johnson, Kayley Johnson, Kacie Davis, Lacie Davis, Olivia Davis, Daeton Davis, Josiah Vanmeter and Elizabeth Vanmeter; siblings, Don P. Johnson Jr., Don P. Johnson III, Douglas C. Johnson and Allean Miles and a host of nieces and nephews. Darrell spent his employment years as a volunteer firefighter, EMT, owner operator, school bus driver for Wayne Twp. Schools and a warehouse worker. He played Santa for over 30 years. When Darrell had free time, he enjoyed playing basketball and Xbox with his grandson, Noah. He also enjoyed auctions and most of all his four legged friend, Buddi.
Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, February 27 from 3 pm - 5 pm at 1181 Kingsway Dr., Avon, IN 46123.
