Obituary of Carl Stanfield

Carl "Carlie" Stanfield 90, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away suddenly, Thursday, February 3, 2011, at his home. Carlie is survived by his four children, Larry (Debbie) Prosser, Danny (Linda) Stanfield, Frank (Joni) Stanfield and Darlene (Joe) Etter. Carlie was preceded in death by his dear second wife, Virginia (Prosser) Stanfield; his devoted first wife, Charlene (Fiquet) Stanfield; his loving son, Leonard Armond Stanfield and precious granddaughter, Michell Lynn Stanfield. Carlie grew up in Haughville, where he was proud of his Slovenian heritage. Since 2006, he resided at Crestwood Village Apartments on the Westside of Indianapolis, where he cherished the love and fellowship of his many friends, neighbors and Crestwood staff. Before retiring, Carlie worked for over 50 years as a truck gardener for Schwab's Greenhouses. He was a World War II veteran serving with the Armed Forces in Normandy, France. He was a long time member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Funeral services for Carlie will be held Monday, February 7, 2011 at Noon, with visitation from 10 a.m. to Noon in Stevens Mortuary and Family Center, 5520 W. 10th St. Indianapolis. A chapel service with military honors will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery. Due to inclement weather, a private burial will be held later that day at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
