Obituary of Marjorie Davenport

Marjorie "Marge" Davenport, 70, of Indianapolis passed away June 12, 2014. She was born September 13, 1943 in Frankfort, Kentucky to the late Harold Columbus and Margaret L. (Frasher) Thomas. Marge was also preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Mr. Larry Davenport; son, Robert "Bobby" Davenport; and brothers, Jerry Thomas and Billy Thomas. . Marge was a kind and generous woman and a true and loyal friend. She was a loving and caring mother to her children and family. Marge enjoyed many hobbies like planting flowers, tending to her garden, reading, baking sweet treats and vacationing. She loved to visit her favorite city, New York and shopped at her favorite store, Macy's. "Macy's may go out of business" Marge loved to dance and belonged to the dance club in Merrillville, IN. Marge's true passion was volunteering and helping others. She dedicated her life to giving. She made sure nobody went without anything. She led fundraising organizations and volunteered at grade schools. Marge attended Wells High School in Chicago, IL and later, at the age of 50, returned to college and graduated nursing school where she attained Valedictorian of her graduation class of 1997. Marge worked for McGills Electrical in Valparaiso, IN and Harborside Healthcare in Indianapolis, IN. She is survived by daughters, Margaret "Tina" (Tim) Corbin, Marie "Charlie" (Paul) Lodics and Kathy Davenport; son, Larry (Jody) Davenport; brothers, Tim, James, Harold and Ray Thomas; her beloved dog, Daisy; ten grandchildren and two Great-Grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 in Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th Street Indpls, IN at 1:00 PM with a visitation from 11:00 AM until service time. Pastor Criag Knisley, Westlake Community Church of God, will officiate. Interment will follow immediately in West Ridge Park Cemetery.
