Obituary of Randy Blake
Randy Joe Blake, 59, of Indianapolis passed away May 30, 2014. He was born August 10, 1954 in Indianapolis, IN to Benjamin Carl and Betty Jo (Acton) Blake.
Randy worked at Computer Consults in Rochester, IN in the 1980's, Group One Communications from 1996 - 2005 and Andy Frain Security from 2006 - 2011. He proudly served his country in the Navy as a petty officer 3rd class in the mid 70's. While in the Navy, Randy wrote a newspaper column in the Sandpaper called Dear Heavy, his bases version of Dear Abby. One of Randy's proudest moments was being immortalized forever at the WW2 Museum in Auburn, IN by receiving a brick, thanking him for her service in the Navy. He was a member of the American Legion, Post #0777 and Republican Presidential Task Force #0777. He loved fishing, camping, all card games, traveling, coin collecting and bowling. During the late 1970's he was such a good bowler that he was a member of the IN Bowl 250 Club. He was an avid collector of lighthouses, sailboats, and palm trees, Egyptian artifacts and Lord of the Rings memorabilia. He loved playing the slot machine and would live at the casino if he could. Randy had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a joke to tell. He was a wonderful man who touched many lives. Randy will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts. Life will never be the same without him.
The Sailor's Prayer:
The storm is done The waves have quieted The sailor comes home Anchors away my friend
