Obituary of Kimi Lubbers
Kimi (Shimano) Lubbers, 89, of Indianapolis passed away April 12, 2014. She was born November 1, 1924 in Tokyo, Japan.
Kimi worked in Tokyo for a telephone company. She met her husband, Hendrik Lubbers on a US Army base at a BINGO game. They married on February 3, 1953 in Nagoya, Japan. Kimi and Hendrik start a Japanese-American Club in 1956 at the YMCA where they met other couples from Japan. Kimi was very involved in SGI throughout her life and lived to watch Sumo wrestling.
She is survived by her son, Martin Lubbers and daughter, Suzanna Lubbers.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, April 20 at 2 pm in Soka Gakkai International Buddhist Center, 804 N. Deleware St., Indianapolis, IN. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 23 at 11 am in Crown Hill Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN.
