Eulogy (written by James E. Campbell III):
Our parents raised my sister and I in a conservative Christian home. Our education and spiritual education was very important. They were supportive in every aspect of our childhood right though our lives as adults. This parenting team was disrupted in 2004 when a car accident took our father from us at the age of 81. God apparently had greater plans for dad. Life for our mother, my sister and myself changed immediately. For some time we felt that life had been unfair, but we eventually grew stronger and moved in a positive direction, always supporting each other. Mom has always been independent and spiritually strong. This faith pushed her through life with a very positive attitude. Mom's health was good for a while then her grieving for dad caught up with her. Her life change pulled my sister and I even closer to help care for all the changes in her lifestyle. The first move was to an independent living facility. Several illnesses soon prompted assisted living arrangements, where mom would have complete care. Her life has been a model that we all should try to duplicate. Shortly after the depression in 1929, mom had her thirteenth birthday and her father bought her a Steinway piano. Mom never took music lessons; she could not read a note of music. She was certainly gifted, as upon hearing a song she was able to play the piano with great ability. The Steinway piano has eighty-eight keys. Mom remarked on her 88th birthday, just over a month ago, that her life was like a keyboard. She managed and played her life just as she played the piano. The music that has played for the past two hours was a digital recording she made for my sister and myself. The was a CD of all the music she played during our childhood. Every night she would play the piano for an hour after our bedtime. We will always remember these songs and the great times and guidance our parents offered to us.
