Obituary of Albert Gazvoda

Albert Hoover Gazvoda, 82, of Indianapolis passed away September 11, 2013. He was born July 26, 1931 to Frank and Anna Gazvoda, both preceding him in death. Albert married Sharon Myers on October 8, 1988. He served in the Korean War as a member of the Army. He worked for 30 years in the plumbers/steamfitters Local 440 and was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, boating and fishing. He loved to "cut the rug", especially polka dancing. He was a lifelong fan of Indy car racing and loved going to the Indianapolis 500. Albert was also a member of the American Legion in Crawfordsville and the Moose Lodge in Speedway. Albert is preceded in death by his siblings, Frank (Mardella) Gazvoda, John (Sophie) Gazvoda, Joseph (Margaret) Gazvoda; Ann (Hank) Rajer and Francis (Bob) Moos; children, Vaughn Gazvoda and Frankie Gazvoda and grandchild, Aaron Myers. He is survived by his children, Star Ridge, Bruce (Deborah) Gazvoda, Ginny Gazvoda and Albert (Monta) Gazvoda Jr.; step-children, Jill (John) Denny, Carlin (Norma) Myers, Mark (Katherine) Myers and John (Rachel) Myers; sister, Rosie (John) Medjeski; grandchildren, Kelly Cashman, Shelby Cashman, BJ Gazvoda, Jessica Gazvoda, Abigail Gazvoda, Steven Myers, Jasmine Denny, Sarah Myers, Sam Myers, Savannah Myers and Jacob Myers; great grandchildren, Amber, Haley and Sarah Cashman and one great great grandchild. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 16 from 11 am - 1 pm with a funeral service at 1 pm in Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St., Indpls. Burial will follow at Washington Park North Cemetery.
