Obituary of Rosemary Stanesa

Rosemary (Parker) Stanesa, daughter of Taylor C. and Margaret E. (Potter) Parker, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 in Indianapolis at age 93. She was born February 22, 1920 in Evansville, IN and spent most of her school life there with her mother, father and four brothers. The family moved to Indianapolis and Rosemary graduated from Shortridge High School in 1937. She entered Indiana Business College in Indianapolis, graduated in 1938 and began her working life at Wilson Milk Company. She met Thomas Stanesa while attending Indiana Business College and they were married 69 years before his passing in 2009. Rosemary was a loving, caring, generous person and was no stranger to challenges. Whether it was raising 4 rambunctious boys and one sweet girl, or taking on the back-office support of the family motel business in addition to those of chef, chauffeur and anchor of the family, she performed those duties without complaint, without work strikes or strife, and with only the determination to take care of her family. Rosemary was a stalwart supporter of husband Tom throughout their lives. She was a very visible partner who was always there and always an advocate throughout his many years of blindness. After rearing their family, Rosemary and Tom continued to be deeply involved with family. They must hold an attendance record since they attended all grandchildren's college graduations and every child and grandchild's wedding ceremonies. Rosemary was an excellent seamstress showing her creative talent by making doll clothes using her own clothing for material. She was a talented artist with an inherited Parker family talent she passed to children and grandchildren. Her oil paintings are proudly displayed in family homes in Indiana, Georgia, Illinois, Colorado and Washington. She loved to travel and visited numerous U. S. and European destinations with husband Tom and family. Rosemary had a very difficult last four years, but continued to win the hearts of nurses and staff at Greenwood Meadows and Meadow Lakes assisted living centers, with many remarking she was one of the sweetest ladies in their "families". Those comments are such a nice tribute to our greatest admirer and friend, our Mother. Rosemary is survived by 5 children Thomas Jr., James, David, Joyce and Larry, 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. The family requests donations in the name of Rosemary Stanesa, rather than flowers to the following: Tribute to Rosemary Stanesa c/o The Foundation Fighting Blindness, 11435 Cronhill Drive, Ownings Mills, Maryland 21117-2220, www.FightBlindness.org, (410) 568-0150 OR: Tribute to Rosemary Stanesa c/o Saints Constantine and Elena Orthodox Church, 3237 W. 16th St., Indianapolis, IN 46222, (317) 638-4162
