Obituary of Dale Smith
Heaven's gates opened wide as the Lord whispered, "Well done my good and faithful Servant." Dale LaRue Smith, 78, of Indianpolis entered into his eternal rest on April 7, 2013. Dale was born on February 3, 1935 in Aiken, MN to Clarence R. Smith and Helen M. (Wood) Smith.
Dale enjoyed a 20 year career in the military. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in November 1953 and retired in December 1973. He served in two overseas tours, one in South Korea and one in Vietnam. He finished his career as a recruiter in El Paso, TX.
After retiring from the military, he relocated to Indianapolis where he worked as a locksmith, retiring in 2000.
Dale married Eva Louise (Clark) Smith in Seattle, WA in 1954. They had four children together, Victoria L., Dale R., Brian W. and Darlene R.
He married his second wife, Sandra K. (Cook) Smith on July 20, 1979 in Las Vegas, NV.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence R. and Helen M. (Wood) Smith; daughter, Darlene R. Bonstrom; granddaughter, Jennifer M. Bergeron; great-grandson, Teyvon Jackson; wife, Eva Louise (Clark) Whitley and brothers, C. Laverne Smith and C. Howard Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Sandra K. Smith; one daughter, Victoria L. (Richard) Huizar; two sons, Brian W. (Patty) Smith and Dale R. (Tracey) Smith; brother, Richard R. Smith; sister, Dee Cragun; grandchildren, Jesse and Ginger Wolf and numerous step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 13 from 10 am - noon with a funeral service at noon in Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St., Indpls. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd, MN.
