Obituary of Arvine Grubbs

Arvine Dudley Grubbs, 89, Indianapolis passed away March 12, 2013. He was born in Indianapolis and the fifth child of ten children born to H. Dudley and Tabitha Lay Grubbs. He lived on the Westside of Indianapolis most of his life and moved to Speedway in 1971 until 2009 when he moved to the Harrison Retirement home. Our family wishes to thank the staff at the Harrison Home and Eagle Valley Meadows for the fine care and making him feel at home. Arvine retired from Bryant Heating Carrier Corp. after 35 years of service. The things in life he enjoyed the most were music, singing and ballroom dancing. He loved the big band sound of Frank Sinatra. When he was a young man he took a few Arthur Murray dance lessons and a few were all he needed because he had a talent for it. He loved dancing anywhere he could, especially the Indiana Roof Ballroom. At a lot of places he was asked to come up and sing with the band. Arvine grew up in the 1st Baptist Church then located at Meridian and Vermont. As a teenager he became a member. In later years he became a member of Olive Branch Christian Church. He is preceded in death by his brothers Cecil Grubbs Sr., Wilbur Grubbs and Eugene Grubbs, sisters Elsie Burnette, Marguerite Hendricks and Mollie Harloss. He is survived by brothers, Kenneth Grubbs and Robert Grubbs Sr., and sister, Rosemary Sydow. A private family memorial will be at a later date.
