Obituary of Robert Hatch

Robert Hatch was born on January 19, 1954, to Robert W. Hatch and Marie Martel Hatch. In addition to his mother, Robert is survived by three sisters, Mary E. Hatch, Julia Hatch Miller and Patrice M. Hatch; two aunts, Bernice Barnes and Sybill Trachier; and a niece and nephew, Becca and Ben Miller. His oldest sister, Kathlyn N. Hatch preceded him in death. Robert was an auto technician and loved anything mechanical. He was a careful workman as exhibited by his 23 years of experience rebuilding engines at Continental Imports on East Washington St. He then worked for Bill Estes Chevrolet and concluded his working years at Carrier Corporation. He was proud to carry a permanent heating and air conditioning license, which he received from Ivy Tech. Robert loved all cars in general and particularly working on his own. He enjoyed making jigsaw puzzles, gardening, cooking and Saturday lunches with his friends from work. A devout man, he truly loved his religion and regularly attended St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. It can be said that Robert loved everyone, and in return, everyone loved him. He cherished his home. The evening before he died, he called from the hospital: "I'll be home after the snow storm," he promised. And he kept that promise. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 10 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St., Indpls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 11 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 3354 W. 30th St., Indpls. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert's memory to St. Mary's Child Center, 901 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St., Indianapolis, IN 46202.
