Obituary of Louise Dryer
Louise M. Dryer, 92, Indianapolis, past onto the lord on January 17, 2013. It was just one hour after receiving the Sacrament of the Last Rites and on her 71st wedding anniversary. Louise was born on February 3, 1920 in St. Charles, MO to Louis and Anna C. (Knoblach) Hibbeler. Louis, a cigar maker, and Anna, a seamstress, both precede her in death and in 1989 her husband of 47 years, Mr. Harry E. Dryer preceded her in death. Louise is also preceded in death by her daughters, Lucy Leighton and Linda Soel; son, Peter Dryer and sisters, Marge Krause, Lorraine Wyrsch and Ruth Sweeney.
Louise was a caring and loving mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. She also fostered many children in Vigo County. She spent many years volunteering in soup kitchens and giving back to the communities in which she lived. Louise also volunteered for the RSVP Hotline for Catholic Charities, a resource for adults 55 and over, and the Guardian Angel Guild (St. Mary Child Center). While there, she committed herself to generosity and to the responsible use of spiritual and material resources. She taught ESL at St. Vincent Hospital, IPS Schools and the Indianapolis Public Library. Louise, a devout catholic, served as a Lector at Annunciation Catholic Church in Brazil, IN and Christ the King Catholic Church in Indianapolis, IN. and was currently a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Speeedway, IN. Her hobbies include sewing, playing cards and reading.
She is survived by one son, Michael (Kathleen) Dryer; sister, Harriet Sladek; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and thirty nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 21 from 10 am until 11 am with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following in St. Christopher Catholic Church, 5301 W. 16th St., Speedway. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
