Obituary of Raymond Peck
Raymond Francis Peck (Ray), 67, of Indianapolis, passed away at home on October 17, 2012, with Kathy, his devoted wife of 46 years and his loving family by his side. Ray was born on July 12, 1945 to Frank and Marie (Owens) Peck. Ray and Kathy were married on July 23, 1966 at St. Christopher Church.
Upon graduation from Cathedral High School, he served in the Navy from 1963 to 1967, and toured Europe learning technology. Ray spent the majority of his professional career working for Esterline Angus, an electronics firm. He finished his career at Volex, a power cord company, before retiring in 2007.
Ray loved sports and competition. He volunteered in all his children's various endeavors. He coached football, volunteered for the golf team, and assisted with an array of other activities. Ray's favorite pastime was playing golf with good friends and family. Nothing gave him greater pleasure than obtaining bragging rights through friendly (and sometimes not so friendly) competition.
Ray loved doing for others, hosting parties, and cooking favorite dishes for family, friends, and neighbors. Often family members came home from work and were greeted by the delicious smells of a favorite meal.
Ray's other passion was getting bargains - he loved a bargain. A shrewd negotiator, often Ray was not as concerned with the end product as he was the deal - "you won't believe how much I paid for . . . . "
Ray was a member of the Plainfield Elks and the Knights of Columbus. Ray is a parishioner at St. Susanna in Plainfield, IN.
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Kathy (Martich) Peck; sons, Ray, (Elaine) Peck, Jr.; Doug Peck; Matt (Francheska) Peck; daughter, Cindy (Chris) Doll; granddaughter, Abby Doll; grandson, Sam Doll; brother, Joe Peck; sisters, Ruth Velikan and Tina (William "Doc") Heath, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 22nd from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St., Indianapolis. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 23rd at 10:00 am at St. Susanna Catholic Church, 1210 East Main St., Plainfield, IN.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5635 W 96th St, Ste 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278
