Mark William Garback July 21, 1961 - May 7, 2009 Mark William Garback was a free spirited, fun loving man. Mark never met a stranger or person he wasn't willing to play a joke on. Mark had many passions in life but at the top of his list was his family, friends and riding his motorcycles. Mark died in a tragic accident while on duty as a funeral escort. In life, Mark had many accomplishments. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science. He was also a graduate of Kentucky Military Academy, where he received the Commandant's Award and was commissioned as Second Lieutenant. Mark continued to serve in the Kentucky National Guard, where he received the rank of Captain. Mark was an Executive Board Member of the Dallas and Reid Ride for Juvenile Diabetes and helped raise over $262,000 in four years. he was a Project Manager as well as Motorcycle Safety Foundation instructor and a member of ABATE. Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Betty (Lee) Garback and nephew, Michael John Garback, Jr. He is survived by his father, John Garback and step-mother, Mary Ann Garback of Lexington, KY; brother, Michael Garback and wife, Debbie of Olympia, WA; step-brothers, Jeff and Mike Taylor and his brotherhood of motorcycle riding friends. Rest in Peace My Brother. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, in Stevens Mortuary, W. 10th Street. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
