Obituary of Craig James "Frasier" Williams
Craig James “Frasier” Williams, 64, of Speedway, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, December 21, 2024. Born in Indianapolis on April 21, 1960, son of Harry D. Williams, Jr. and Gloria Georgene (Branger) Williams who lovingly called him Craiger McGreger. He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Brenda Kaye Williams. Survivors include his mother, Gloria, brother Harry III (Amy), brother Steven and sister Valerie (Cathy).
Craig was academically gifted and was promoted a grade at St. Christopher’s Catholic School, graduating in 1973. At age 17, he graduated from Speedway HS in 1977 requiring him to, begrudgingly, wait a year before he could enlist in the Air Force. He served from 1978 through July 1984 as a Military Policeman, leaving as a Staff Sergeant. He then went to Indiana University for two years.
Craig worked a variety of jobs. He was employed at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Public Relations, traveled to Oregon and owned/operated an apple wholesale business then returned to Indiana. He was most proud serving in the military and working as an EMT for several ambulance services including Wayne Township Fire Dept. and for IU Hospital at Lucas Oil Stadium.
He had a zest for life, loved animals and music! In 2005, he was selected to play his top 10 songs on radio station WKLU (101.9 FM). The songs heard, on-line, were his selections. When he was young, he enjoyed being in the Boy Scouts of America. As an adult, he sold race tickets for the Speedway 500 and Brickyard 400, learned how to fly and took his grandparents, parents and Aunt Mary Jo on trips, golfed, bowled, scuba-dived, camped, spelunked, gardened and created roses by grafting different host plants and entering competitions. Our family grieves for our beloved Craig and will always remember him as an explorer of life.
