Obituary of John Stephen Drake
John Stephen Drake, 74, of Noblesville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, October 28th, 2024 in his home peacefully surrounded by his family. John was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Otis Edward Drake and Rita (Farracane) Housel on January 1st, 1950. He graduated from Northwest High School in 1968. John was a very hard worker. He started at Citizen’s Gas then Firestone Tire where he was a manager. Then John started his 40-year career as a car salesman. John started his career at Collin’s Nissan then Collin’s Olds Used Car where he worked for many years. He then went to National Car Sales and ended at Terry Lee Honda which became Hare Honda. John’s last year selling cars was in 2020. John held many accomplishments of “Car Salesman of the Month” and “Car Salesman of the Year (2018)”. He enjoyed tee times at the golf course, family trips to Dale Hollow, and watching his favorite teams (Colts, Pacers, IU Basketball, and the Cubbies) while drinking Coors Light and enjoying a cigar. His favorite time of the year was the month of May when the Greatest Spectacle of Racing was happening! His all-time favorite thing to do was be with the ones he loved. John is survived by his wife Marta (Hysong) Drake of Noblesville. His son Tommy (Heather) Drake, daughters Cari (Mike) Kelley and Michelle (Jeff) Ashby. Siblings Jerry (Mary Jane) Housel, Peggy Housel, and Jeananne Schultz. His grandchildren Ashleigh (Cory) Anderson, Emily (Josh) Stickler, Chloe Drake, Noah and Ava Schmersal, Nathan (Kelly) and Kelsey Ashby. His many great grandchildren Bryson and Drake Anderson, Xavier Stickler, Walker, Warren, Winston, and Vivian Ashby. He was predeceased by his father Otis Edward Drake, mother Rita (Farracane) Housel, and stepfather Robert “Bud” Housel.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 10 am until 1:00 pm at Stevens Mortuary 5520 W. 10th Street Indianapolis, IN, with a funeral service immediately following. The Reverend Shawn Tully officiating. Stevens Mortuary is entrusted with the arrangements.
