I just watched the memorial pictures of Claire. So many thoughts went through my mind what a courageous woman of faith Claire was she was an inspiration to me most of my life. I remember her from the time I was about three years old we lived in Indianapolis and she and Dave when they were first married Lived in the basement. We ended up in California when I was about 11 years old Claire, and kids and Dave moved to California Dave’s sister Jama Husband, Jim, son, Jimmy and Didi came too. They did well for quite a while until Dave died of leukemia. Claire took up her courage and her faith and moved back to Indianapolis. We were not to see much of each other from then on. I grew up, got married and had my own family. This meant however, that I never got to know most of the family in Indianapolis and of course, is all of you who live there now. I am sad about this because I would’ve loved to known you all. I am now 79 myself. We made a few trips there over the years to visit the Pictures show, though that Claire was blessed indeed, with all of you. Toward the end of her life after she sold her house, it was hard to stay in touch because of the new phone systems and computers. I talked to her after Christmas 2024 with the help of April. Thank you April. I send my love to all of you. I am sorry that I never got to know the Minton kids, that were Steve’s. I know you’re out there. I’ve seen you on Facebook at times, but you don’t know me at all still . I am very grateful to all of you as you were all part of Claire‘s family. I am now looking forward to heaven myself. I expect to see Claire, my brother Dave, my sister Jama And Claire’s boys. God bless all of you in Indiana and nearby that were a part of Claire’s family. I hope that some family members see this text I’ve sent. Love Kathy Ann Minton Dickinson
Sorry to hear about your mom Eve. Give your Aunt Kathy a call, Jimmy Clark
My Grandma was truly Amazing. She taught me so many things throughout my life, and taught me by example. She taught me how to cherish life’s blessings, how to persevere through hard times, and most importantly she taught me about Our Lord and Savior. My strong foundation of faith that has been my saving grace, is all thanks to my Grandma. She saved my life and my soul. She never gave up on me or on who I’d become. I would call her for answers to life’s questions, and I knew she was right- because she put the Lord first and went to Him for her answers. and she had lived through it herself in one way or another. She taught me that when a man and a woman who love one another both put the Lord first in their life, their love can survive anything because even when they are angry with one another and feel like giving up on one another, their love for the Lord surpasses that hurt and anger and they stay together for Him until the storm passes. I used to have extreme anxiety over one of my kids dying and I asked her how she had survived this not once but four times. She said ‘Shannon, it was hard and hurt me terribly, but we have to remember that they were never really ours to begin with, they are Gods children , and we can be thankful for every day that we had with them, that God entrusted them to us and blessed us with them in our lives’ .
I could go on and on with all the wisdom Grandma shared with me over the years.
I am so so happy for her that she has gone Home to be with Our Lord, and she will always be dear to my heart.
