Obituary of Leonard Sauer
Leonard Donald "Sonny" Sauer 79, of Indianapolis, passed away December 17, 2008. He was born February 23, 1929. Sonny was self-employed and worked as a tile contractor for most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War, for which he was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Sonny was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, VFW #98 and the American Legion Post 497. He loved fishing, coaching little league, playing cards and his family above all else. Sonny was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amy Posey; and his brothers, Jack and Jerry Sauer. He is survived by his wife, Marcie Sauer; sons, Leonard J. and John M. (Jeri) Sauer; daughters, Maureen (Bill) Posey and Mary Keesling; sisters, Betty Dawson, Mary Jo Roberts, Rosemarie Gregg and Cathy Campbell; brothers, Duffy and Guerin Sauer; grandchildren, Shannon, Bridget, Mary, Lacie, Sean, Gabriel and Julie; great grandchildren, Taylor, Jackson and Brody. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 19, 2008 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 3354 W 30th St, at 11:00 am, with visitation there an hour prior to Mass. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Stevens Mortuary. Online condolences may be made at www.stevensmortuary.net.
