Obituary of Deborah Grunden

Deborah Lynne Grunden, 67, of Indianapolis passed away on August 22, 2024. Deborah was born in Alameda, CA in January of 1957 to Robert Ray Smith and Jeanne Elizabeth Tingley, both preceding her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Tommy Lewis Grunden.

Deborah was known by her family as a woman of simple wants. A thoughtfully prepared meal alongside her loved ones was considered time well spent. In her early years she had considered a life with the sisters before settling on raising a family. Throughout her time as a homemaker, she was diligent in her duties as a mother and wife. There was always time made to help with studies or contribute to household projects. In her later years she would reflect on this proudly as a woman of tradition. She left this world surrounded by loved ones with a strong faith in her Christianity inside her. She was infinitely loved by her family and will be missed dearly. Debroah is survived by her sons Joshua Robert Grunden and Matthew Aaron Grunden; daughter Kathleen Ann Backfish; grandchildren Roland Reigh Grunden, Abbigail Lynne Grunden, Adam David Backfish and Noah Thomas Backfish; great grandchild Maeve Josephine; brother William Logan Smith; sisters Karen Godier and Kathy Richardson.
