Sue and Bill Tresslar and their daughters (Shannon and Karen) lived downed the road from my family for much of the time I was growing up in Middletown, IN. Bill was the pastor for the Middletown United Methodist Church and my family attended that church. Bill was probably one of the best preachers I have ever heard give a sermon, and he did that week in and week out every Sunday. Of course, Sue was a preacher's wife and I am not sure what our church would have done without Sue. Bill and Sue were both awesome people. Sue and my Mom were best friends and my Mom loved being around Sue and Bill. My Dad passed away unexpectedly in May, 1980 and Bill and Sue (and Shannon and Karen) helped our family tremendously through a very hard time. Sue would check on my Mom regularly and her and Bill always invited my Mom to go with them for many different activities. The thing I remember most about Sue was her calming demeanor. As anyone who has belonged to a church knows, there can be differing opinions within a church family that can cause some major friction between individuals and groups. Sue was always level-headed when it came to dealing with these issues and she quite often helped resolve the issue and mended the hurt feelings. My Mom used to say she thinks Sue would have been as good of minister as Bill. While I don't know about that, I do know that as a Minister's wife and as a person she was the best. I am very thankful that I had an opportunity in my life to be part of their lives and I will cherish that friendship with the Tresslar family forever. God Bless you Sue and God Bless Shannon and Karen and their entire family.
I had the honor of caring for Sue during her stay at Meadow Lakes Assisted Living. We clicked from the very first time we met! We shared many laughs and even some tears! I grew to love her like she was my own family and her daughters Shannon and Karen! Sue is deeply missed and will forever hold a place in my heart!
Sue will be deeply missed around Paradise Lake. Sue and Bill were undeniably the epitome of what a good neighbor should be.
For 25 years we have lived across the street from Sue and Bill. Sue looked out for us and gave us guidance, prayer and advice. We went flower/hosta shopping, and trips to flower shows. She enjoyed watching our boys grow and treated them with the love of a grandmother knowing their grandparents were far away.
Looking across the street now will never hold the same meaning.
Love Jay, Rebekah, Jacob and Seth Ferguson.
