Obituary of Mina Akpan

The best mother Mama Mina Adosiagha Okon Akpan, a beacon of peace and kindness, was born in 1940 to the proud parents, Adosiagha and Oruta Cookey-Gam in Ukonuwariapu Polo of Opobo Kingdom, at Dr. Farm Egwenga-Opobo, in the then Opobo Division of South-Eastern Nigeria.

Her early life was rooted in a strong sense of family and community, values that she carried throughout her life.

Mama Mina met and married her late husband, Mr. R. Bell-Gam. The couple welcomed their first son, Sir Rowland Adagogo Nwakanma Bell-Gam, and other children, bringing great joy to their lives. Following the loss of her first husband, Mama Mina's resilience shone through as she found love again with Chief Okon Akpan and expanded her family with more children. Known for her humility and kindness, Mama Mina Bell-Gam dedicated her life to nurturing peace and harmony in all aspects of her life, fostering strong connections and unity within her community.

 As a woman of great compassion and determination, Mama Mina contributed to the welfare of others by working at the General Hospital Egwanga, further displaying her dedication to improving the lives of those around her. Her selfless nature and commitment to fostering peace left a lasting impression on all who crossed her path. Living a rich and fulfilling life, Mama Mina Okon Akpan peacefully passed away at the age of 83yrs on 14th May 2024. Her beautiful life and legacy live on through her cherished children Sir Rowland Bellgam, Mrs. Deborah Adesagba, Mrs. Grace Anele, Mrs. Georgina Chris Isaac, Idongesit Bullard, and Miss Eno Okon Akpan, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The life of Mama Mina Akpan serves as a testament to the power of love, kindness, and resilience, values that she embodied with grace and humility. Her spirit and dedication to maintaining peace will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her. May her soul rest in peace for now and on behalf of the family.
