Obituary of Norman Dones
Norman Eugene Dones, 85, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2016. He was born in Dallas, Texas on February 17, 1931 to the late Julette and Charley Dones. Norman enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 18 where he proudly served. Norman was a college graduate. He was also a professor in Jackson, Michigan and was a skilled painter.
Norman showed great love for his family. He professed his love for Christ at an early age. He loved to share his knowledge of cooking, and playing chess with his loved ones. Norman loved to listen to music and dance. His favorite artist was Lena Horn. He also loved to listen to Phyllis Hyman, and Lou Rawls. It would tickle us to see when his favorite song "A Natural Man" come how he would jump up and start dancing. When things seemed hard he would be the one with a listening ear and give great advice, but never sugar coat what he would say to you.
Norman has two sisters: Ouida Henderson and Beverly Dones. He is preceded in death by one son, Norvell Dones. He is survived by his daughters; Tina Dones, Norvena Dones-Turner (Scott); son Germayne Dones; stepdaughters Kanetta Masalskis (James), Gervasha Dones whom he cherished and loved as his own; a special person who he care for as a daughter, Temora Moore; grandchildren, Tyneesha, Dezjuan, Michael, Kanesha, Lemetrious, Jamale, Jamar, Dionta', Norvell Martez, Christian, Micqan, Montrez, Joshua, Lyric, Tre'va, Jayden and Kaelan.; four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
