Obituary of Lonnie Carter
Lonnie "Tuck" Carter, 80, Indpls., entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Dec. 21, 2008. He was born Feb. 21, 1928 to Bessie Mae and Boss Carter. After attending Washington High School, Tuck served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a lifelong member of Memorial Baptist Church, Local #47 painters union, a G.M. retiree and a current member of the Church of the Master. Preceding him in death were his parents, brother James and sister Edith Slavens (Lloyd). He was a devoted husband of 58 years to Nancy Jane (Thomas), beloved father to Diane Achenbach, Pam (Mike) Hubner, Lynda Priest, Jenny McCullogh, Jim (Lorna) Carter, proud grandparent of 10, great-grandparent to 14, loving brother to Janie (Jim) Backer, loyal fishing buddy to Eddie Fey and doting friend to Angel and Pokie. Calling will be Tues., Dec. 23 from 4-8 pm at Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W 10th St, Indpls. Services will be Wed., Dec. 24 at 10 am at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church of the Master on Girls School Rd. or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at www.stevensmortuary.net.
