Obituary of Anton Augustus Van Winkle

~~Anton Van Winkle was born on January 13, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois, to the union of the late Helen Mae and Willie Lee Van Winkle. Anton was also preceded in death by a brother, Rayford, a sister, Denise Penny, and a daughter, Andrea Finney. He departed this life on September 17, 2017. Anton confessed his life to Christ at an early age and continued his spiritual journey later in life when he joined Covenant United Church of Christ in 2003. Anton graduated from Thornton High School in 1969. He continued his education at the Technical Institute for Electronics and pursued a career as a Dyecaster. He moved to Indianapolis in 2015. Anton had a remarkable sense of humor, a razor-sharp wit and a winning smile. He had a tremendous love for music and fashion. He was always dressed to impress and was loaded with charisma and charm. When he spoke, one could not help but listen and gather strength from his wisdom. He had a great love for history and politics and would advise on any subject. He loved fishing and spending time on the lake, and had a love for car racing in his younger years. Anton will forever be remembered by his children Antoinette (Gary), Ahmad, Amir, Anthony and Bryanna; his siblings, Patricia King (Darrell), Debra Van Winkle (Danny) and Eric Codrington; his grandchildren Brandon, Julian, Jeremy, Brittney, Myles and Quincy; a niece, Tiffany and a nephew, Dexter; and also by his beautiful, dedicated companion and fiance, Lynda Cummins. Anton also leaves fond and cherished memories to a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
