Obituary of Doretta Rose
Mrs. Doretta Rose, age 69, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2020, at St. Vincent's Hospital of Indianapolis. She was born May 3, 1950, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of the late James and Susan Anders.
Doretta graduated from Arlington High School, home of the Golden Knights,
Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1968. She retired from AT&T after 21 years of dedicated service and took on a second career with the U.S. Post Office for 17 years. Her most important work was as a Daughter, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter Jennifer King. She is survived by her devoted husband of 33 years, Billy Rose, son Brad King, sister Beverly Ammons, step-daughter Stephanie Moore, step-son Matthew Rose, grandchildren Josh Moore, Jacob King, Jasmine Sickles, Alex Moore, and Austin Sawers and nephew Christopher Ammons.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and a multitude of animal companions throughout the years (dogs, cats, birds, turtles, fish), collecting stamps, watching movies, the original Star Trek TV series, NCIS before Mossad Liaison Ziva David departed, playing computer games, cooking (she had countless cookbooks), and traveling, both domestic and abroad. During her life, and especially with her husband, she managed to travel to almost every U.S. State (sorry Alaska) and five continents. Some highlights of her travel included visits to Canada, Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Japan, Thailand, United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Gibraltar. From the shores of Hawaii to the deserts of Egypt, she throughly enjoyed searching the globe for the perfect souvenirs for her family and friends and a steady supply of tourist magnets that adorn her refrigerator to this day.
Mrs. Rose will be cremated and a service will take place at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Serenity Funeral and Cremation Services, Indianapolis, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society are greatly appreciated and encouraged.
