Frederic I. Bowles, Sr Celebration of Life service will be live streamed on https://my.gather.app/family/frederic-bowles-sr on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, starting at 1:00 p.m. EST. Frederic Irvin Bowles, Sr. (Bo) went home to be with the Lord on November 25, 2020, surrounded by his loved ones in person and on facetime, in his home, which was exactly what he wanted. He was born November 11, 1938, to Howard Lee Bowles Sr. and Beatrice Stephens Bowles in Indianapolis, Indiana. Bo was the second oldest of 5 intelligent, quick-witted and loving siblings. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Brenda Jean Elise Bowles; younger brother Stephen Bowles; eldest brother Howard Bowles Jr; and baby brother Benson Bowles. Bo attended Indianapolis Public School #87. He graduated from Shortridge High School in 1956 and attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana where he studied Mathematics. Bo was considered and described as a math genius. Bo was baptized at an early age at Simpson Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and was an active member throughout his early years. After leaving Indiana University, Bo held several professional positions within corporations such as, Highgrades, Ford Motor Company, Yellow Freight and General Motors. Bo married the love of his life, Charlene Cox on June 29, 1963, in Indianapolis, Indiana. That union lasted 57 years before he transitioned and produced three wonderful children, Frederick I. Bowles, Jr, Gina Elise Bowles, Charleston L. Bowles, Sr and four amazing grandsons. Bo was at his best when spending time with family, extended family and friends. He enjoyed playing board games, cards, listening to music and watching sports, especially his sons and grandsons. He cherished every holiday because he knew it would be a gathering of family and close friends coming together in celebration. Bo's favorite pastime was using his hands and mind to fix something that was broken or are in need of repair, such as, household items, cars, clothing or anything else you brought to him. Bo, started each morning reading the newspaper up until the last four months of his life. He could share any and everything to you that was written in the newspaper. Prior to 2018, he would make sure that his daughter, nieces or whomever may have been at our home was prepared and ready to head off for their day by making coffee, cleaning snow off cars or cooling cars and loading all vehicles with briefcases, lunchboxes, purses and any items that need to be taken. So, in short, taking care of us. Bo's daughter, Gina resigned from Metropolitan School District of Pike Township in August, 2018, to become his fulltime caregiver which allowed her to provide care for other loved ones. Bo was a great patient because he learned to adapt to his continued extensive medical care without complaining or argument; unless he was denied five cookies. Everyone that crossed his path over the past 2 years could see the strength and resilience he displayed and that attitude and fight become contagious. Bo leaves to mourn his departure wife, Charlene Bowles; three children, Frederic I. Bowles, Jr. (Angela), Gina Elise Bowles (Benjy); and Charleston L. Bowles, Sr (Beth); grandsons, Corey Bowles, Charleston L. Bowles, Jr., Jordan Bowles, and Kobi Bowles; sister-in-law, Patricia Cox Smith; nieces Pamela Alison-Lane (Reginald), Michelle Jay Smith, Rhonda Smith and Yvette Ursery; nephews, Bryan Bowles, Deran Elmore, Tyrone McCoy (DaVeeka), Damont Maye; great niece, Misty Elmore; great-great niece, Moryann McCoy; great nephews, Alexander Bowles, Maximilan Bowles; great-great nephews, Kenyarie McKelvin, Tyree Elmore and a host of cousins and extended family and friends; forever brother-in-law, Michael J. Smith; and nephew Frankie Elmore. In loving memory from Frederic I. Bowles, Sr. (Bo) "Thank You All For Loving Me".
